help me

do techs make good battle decks? i want a pair of decks that i can scratch with but i can still use to just spin normally.
opinions?

techs are good decks for everything imo

Yeah. With only a few exceptions, all the top turntablists use Techs.

Watch a DMC video and decide for yourself. But I think you will find the answer is yes.

actually a lot of turntablists are using vestax now. the videos from dmc competitions are biased 'cause it depends on who the sponsor is. i've also seen some comps that'll let you choose between the two.

i love my tech's but if you're primarily going to be doing scratching i'd go with something with a straight tone-arm.

just my $0.02

yea vestex are yous by most big scratchers nowadays, Dj hann from lincoln park, Starscreem, carl cox, q-bert and a few others, though stantons are also lookin at for scratchin

Indeed. Really come into their own if you want to ice a cake.

Might want to think about the Numark TTX1 as well. Has both the straight and S-shaped tonearms especially for this reason.

Yeah, but neither arm is all that great...

Both seem to work fine for me. Do you actually have any proof or comparisons with the Technics tonearm or is this just more 'Everything but technics suxxors' that seems to run on these boards?

what exactly makes for a 'good tonearm'?

are there difference on how the tunes sound? how it is positioned on the deck? how it is aligned with the record? or is it just because its not made by technics?

Posted by razzi on Feb-02-2004 17:00:

btw those^^^ werent rhetorical questions, i really do want to know

It's not just more "I r luv teh Techs!" drivel. IMHO (should have added an IMHO to the last post I ), the Numark tonearm just isn't as stable, i.e. it seems like it doesn't hold the needle to the record as well.
