Another Israeli Thread
I couldn't bear the fact that there are only two Israeli threads being heavily 'rhetorizied' in the politics thread at this time, so I took the liberity and opened another one.
Maybe we can flood out all those other threads.
So tell it true, Arafat, fox or hedgehog?

I don't know, I myself think he is a weasel.
I think Arafat is useless!
He has no control over the actions of terrorists and cannot stop them!
I'm gonna get flamed for this but sod it...if Israel wants to talk to anyone and get somewhere, they should talk to the groups that are killing its citizens...and that means negotiating with terrorists...
Please feel free to shout at me!

Oi that wasn't a shout! That was a scream!
Anyway, there's alot to be said for negotiating with "terrorists"
Look at the UK and the IRA. They have their own political party now (Sien Fein) and attacks against the mainland have stopped.
Also, what is a terrorist, and what is a freedom fighter?
One of the reasons there is an Israel is due to Jewish terrorism against the British...do you think they had a point?
Look at America...it was a terrorist revolt against the British that gave them their own country...or were they freedom fighters making a stand against unfair oppression? Either way, they killed alot of British...
u know what is funny?
Well ok not really funny, but an interesting to point out.
Now only are Israel-Palestinian threads undoubtly the most numerous on this forum - they also stack up the most post counts and are always pages and pages of bickering. I mean we always wear out on the other topics near page 5.. but Israel Paelstine, nah we can go at least a good 6-7, or more likely 8 and 9 pages before we wear out and have to start a new one
Never known a politics board to be any different!
arafat just needs to get his hands on a razor!
shaggy bastard...
Imagine we combined all posts of all Israel/Palestine threads and made one big thread out of them. How many pages would that make? We would probably have one big book called "The Two Points of View-and you decide"

I think the tradition of not negotiating with terrorists has more to do with pride and principles rather than common sense! I say pragmatism should win everytime!

Yeah, the prisoner trade says it all when it comes to negotiating with terrorists. Their minds don't work like ours do. We see it as "making a deal". They see it as "setting a precedent" - i.e. "Oh look! They gave us 400 of ours for 1 of theres! Let's kidnap more and see how many we can squeeze out of them!"
Negotiations with Arafat were bad enough... negotiations with Hamas or Hezbollah? Forget it!
