Oceanlab Feat. Justine Suissa - Satellite (Deepdream Remix)

Since this didn't make the TOP15 I guess I can share a little preview of it...

All comments welcome!

holy fucking shit what a track.

how did you make that background noise effect. kinda like the one outback uses. if u could enlighten us, even vaguely, please do so.

only grip is it isnt dark enough for my taste but production is off the wall.

Thank you for comments!

I'm not quite sure what do you mean by that "background effect"?

Posted by Sirocco on Feb-05-2004 22:11:

that sound effect in the background ever bar or so. its pretty low end type and growling type synth

this is yet another good remix, the melody behind the vocals is lovely, infact it makes the vocals seem bad and i loved them in A&B and markus schulz mix, just a shame the clips low quality as it's not good at the beginning

Posted by mantisnl on Feb-05-2004 22:29:

sounds very good, but the chords don`t fit the vocals imo
this could be a very nice song without the vocals tho, i like the breakbeat mixed with trance sounds

Posted by M1cro5lave on Feb-05-2004 22:32:

Don't really like it that much. Some parts of it was ok though, but nothing that makes you go crazy...

haha sean... lol.

Its pretty good, I love your breakdown way better than the A&B orig/remix.

sounds really nice... great breakbeat

Posted by State of Matter on Feb-07-2004 15:43:

Great track, with only one glaring problem. You didn't use the "baby" section of the vocals, which makes them sound incomplete, lik they just trail off. You need these endings imo to complete the phrase.

Other than that, its amazing.

Posted by iLLicit on Feb-07-2004 20:00:

Yeah, nice track this is, with some high potential. I actually also don't think the vocals fit this track very well, as was the case with almost all of the remixes entered in the competition.

But if I were you I would have a re-look at this track and cut the vocals away and turn it into a new track. Because the basis is really original and cool. That breakbeat stuff you have going on is really rockin and combined with the trance sounds, it seems like they blend together.

So cut the vocals, have another look at the track and finish it!

Cut the vocals ? No way man. You've got yourself a great remix here.

Firstly, thank you all for your comments, they're appreciated and noted.

"Sirocco": That "effect"-sound you're talking about (I guess) is just a basic saw+pulse-sound with a rising cutoff-envelope. Don't really know what else I could tell about that, don't those appear pretty much in every song nowadays?

State Of Matter: Hahaha, I disagree. I hate that "baby" after every phrase, makes the vocals sound too much "pop" for me.

Ally_the_Bruce, mantisnl & iLLicit: I've heard lots of comments like that and I'm having some real trouble deciding whether or not I'll make a new edit. But I think this track wouldn't have the same feeling if I removed the vocals. Dunno, we'll see, maybe I'll make a re-work of this...

And to everyone who has asked a high quality mp3 of this: Sorry, can't do that, Anjunabeats own the copyrights.

wow...simply amazing remix, love that breakdown. Did you not make the top 10 for the Naked Angel comp?

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-08-2004 23:22:

Yes I believe he was the #1 winner, hehe.

I really like it!! Am a bit sick of the original A&B mix, so this is really refreshing. The production is absolutely superb!

The only bit that sounds a bit strange in my opinion is just that I keep expecting to hear the "baby" vocal.. it doesn't lose anything because you haven't included it.. it's probably just because the original's been so overplayed

But yeah, absolutely spot on remix. I haven't heard any other entries into the competition but i'm genuinely shocked this wasn't higher placed!

Posted by Zero Frequency on Feb-09-2004 19:26:

Cheers everyone, I'm glad you like it.

This is great. Personally I don't think the "baby"s are needed at all - apart from the last one because the vocals end up on a different key or something otherwise. Hmmm... I'm not good at explaining.

This is a fantastic take on the original though. Listened to it a hell of a lot now.

Posted by a98 on Feb-09-2004 23:50:

damn this was excellent.. i think this should definetly be in top10. the break is so damn beautiful! and yeah it's was great that you didn't include baby

Posted by ManTrance on Feb-09-2004 23:59:

BABY!!!

Being Ironic

Posted by State of Matter on Feb-10-2004 00:32:

It's just the inflections in the singer's voice lead you to think that there is more left, so without the baby (which I agree is corny) they sound incomplete.
