Orkidea Feat. Valeska - Melancholy

Great new vocal tune from Orkidea. Iv heard this played in a Cor Fijneman set as well as some other's.

Contains 3 mixes!

1. Original Mix
2. Cor Fijneman Remix
3. Pete Heller Remix

I think the pete heller remix is the one iv heard so much, and that is the one I like. Has a cool guitar sample. And it builds rather nice.

May be a bit cheesey to some, but I think its a solid early tune, if not solid opener!

7/10

should be arriving tomorrow for me...been a while since a new orkidea track. i'm liking it!

It's not really a new track. It's been waiting a release for a loooong time, about 1.5 years or so i think. Original was featured on Orkidea's album too. I like it but its nothing too special. Of the recent Orkidea tracks Beautiful is much better IMO.

Pete Heller mix is pretty nice but Fijneman's remix is just an average trancer and i don't like it at all as i'm soo bored of most of the "saw" trancers of today. They are very uninspiring and boring with same sounds and same structure.

Fijneman is the most overrated producer right now IMO, all his tracks are generic and uninspired normal trance fluff.

Haven't heard this particular mix but I think I know exactly how it sounds.

i agree. i don't think that i've heard anything that i really like from cor. his tracks aren't very impressive.

as far as the orkidea track. i haven' heard it in a while, but i remember liking it. i'll probably give it another listen before making a final statement.

It's got an excellent vocal. I like the Cor Figneman Remix.

I've listened to the Original Mix and it's..well..just ho hum...

It also appeared on the Select Orkidea Works (or whatever the name was) album which came out not too long ago

Nice vocals!! =)

And, Cor SUX! :>

Stupid fat Cor. Fat fat Cor.

still think cor's productions are good, liked venus and exhibition...and he's at least been an engineer in so many of tiesto's productions...he's had some pretty solid contributions to trance imo...

Well I never cared for his productions/remixes--and he WAS negligent enough to lose his copy of "Radiohead - Street Spirit (Tiesto Remix)". Quite stupid indeed.

Since this seems to be a Fijneman thread now...

Agreed that Cor isn't always the most consistent producer, but he has put out some quality tracks in the past few years. Last year, Exhibition and The Red Bridge were fairly fresh-sounding trancers (particularly the latter). Venus is perhaps is best work to date although his mix is overshadowed by Tiesto's brilliant version.

Having said that, those were his commercial successes. The real gems require a little deeper digging:

DJ Salez vs. Cor Fijneman - Black Mamba / Lattitude
Impact vs. Cor Fijneman - No Way Out / El Matador

In particular the tracks with Impact are notable; El Matador is a deep, techy track while No Way Out thumps along in almost hard-trance fashion before breaking into a synthy interlude. Again, not your average trance.

He also did a solid mix of Ton TB's Electronic Malfunction, a good (arguably, granted) mix of Beautiful Things and, most recently, a vocal track with Anita Kelsey called Healing. I'm not a huge fan of the vocal but production-wise it's on par with anything he's done and there's an instrumental on the flip.

Sure, he's put out some duds (his Melancholy mix wasn't hugely inspiring, for example) but overall I'd say he's a solid, if not ground-breaking producer and doesn't deserve the negative rep he seems to have on here.

Actually, I think his rmx of electronic malfunction was better... IMO.
