Gasoline and Elections
Bet the price of gasoline will drop right before November elections.
What do you think?
The average American gauges his views on the economy on his drive to work while looking at the prices posted at the filling stations. Prices going up; things must be going bad. Prices going down; things must be going good. After all, average Joe doesn't follow Wall Street or listen to any economic reports. He gauges things on what he sees every day around him that he can relate to.

Well, call me naeive, but I don't think very many americans drive down to the gas station to check the price of regular unleaded before they go to the voting polls. You might as well look to see how the dow performed in the last 15 minutes as an indicator of the welfare of the economy.
I can drive from Austin to Houston and back on 10 dollars worth of gas.
If you're driving Hummers then maybe that's why your gas bill is so high. :P
