Smile Haak - Frenzy (Mycron Mainroom Remix) (mastered final version)

hello trancefans!

i'm proud to present my remix of Haak's fantastic tune called Frenzy. I'm worked with my remix a lot, and i'm quite happy with the result, so i decided to post it here...

i gave the name to my remix called "Mainroom", because i really like the synths i used...
dunno how this tune sounds in a tranceclub...

but anyway, if you like it, i would be happy if you would play in your sets,

by the way, i want to collaborate for producing a new tune, so if you like my style and
would like to collaborate with me, just PM me!

otherwise some feedback would be awesome about this track!

cheers,

pete

It seems as if your main lead is panned to the left, at least thats what i hear on my headphones.
Other than that its a cool remix, saw synths sound pretty good.
Nice attempt at thought I would still rather play the original in my sets.

Intro effects are really cool, but very reminiscent of the MK-S remix. Kick needs to have way more low end and attack to it IMO, right now it sounds REALLY weak compared to the rest of the elements. Percs are pretty nice. This is very full sounding, but at around 1:50 it's really kinda muddy, nothing in particular is sticking out and it just sorta sounds like a cluttered mess of tunes. I like the breakdown a lot, the ambience and sounds used are quite good, but the main melody is panned a little too much to the right IMO, should bring it to the centre. After the buildup it sounds kinda out of key, there's some background sound in there that's off I think but I can't pinpoint what it is. And yeah, when it kicks back in it again sounds way too muddy, nothing really sticks out and it just sorta sounds like a mess of SFX and melodies. I think it's the pad in there, way too loud or something.

K overall this has a lot of potential, the FX and synth work are great, but you need a much stronger kick and you need to fix the mixing of the track quite a bit. As I said it sounds like a cluttered mess at times, so you really need to bring the important elements into focus.

Keep it up!

i like this...chilly yet powerful...sweet remix...i'd try to make a remix, but i dont think it'd get too far...

comments bout the tune start at the kick...its too weak i think...or the clap too high...all the other elements are great though...i really enjoyed it..the fxs u use and the sythns on the main melody is amazin.. amazin chilled...cant wait to hear more from u...

The idea is great, but too much low frequency content so it sounds muddy. Also, keep your leads in the center, unless they have a loud delay on the opposite side. Keep it up.

It's alvays nice, to hear good music made by somebody from the city I live in.
Anyways I like the intro very mutch. It's more interesting than the usual intro stuff. And I agree with DJPrototypeX, "really enjoyed it..the fxs u use and the sythns on the main melody is amazin.. amazin chilled"

Nice work!

awesome awesome remix, good job!

Dling now, ill give feedback later mate, i gotta head out now.

i like the way it starts off.
i like all the original sounds.
its a very nice remix, after it is mixed and mastered better the power of it will really come through i think.

maybe a more muted but fuller kick (like the sample would be longer and have more bass, but be chill kind of)

aite i've listened to it a few times now hehe, trying to get a good feel for it.

i like it even better after listening a few times.

its cool how sounds appear and then you never hear them again, good sound design and selection. there are a lot of sweeps and evolving types of sounds as well as strange effects.

i like how at 1:16 the chill synths come in, because before that point it doesnt seem like its going to be that kind of atmosphere.

at 1:41 that muted explosion comes and you get the first hint of the melody and its all filtered low (which sounds very good. i think maybe not letting the filter get up as high would be cool for this remix... like maybe make another layer that has the highs and keep that nice warm filtered feeling to that melody synth as one layer because its really nice.

the piano type chords are cool too, but i think maybe delaying the left or right by a few ms ( 5 - 30) would widen that piano type chord melody and get it out of the center of the stereo field... you can di it by hooking up a delay in reason to just one of the channels (left or right) somewhere along the signal path and then setting wet/dry to all the way wet, put it on ms , turn the feedback down, and then start adjusting the milliseconds that it delays.. this will cause one channel to arrive slightly before the other and widen the stereo image.. also experimenting with teh feedback and other things is cool..

anyway, once again this remix is very nice and original sounding. keep working on it and tweak it a bit more and it'll really wonderful.

talk to ya later,
-rob

hello, mates!

first of all, thank you all for your comments, and suggestions...

i'm really happy you like my remix!

anyway, i just made a little update for this tune!
these are the things, i have fixed:
- updated basskick
- updated claps
- panning works (i have fixed the panning in the synths and some other places, now the full song should sounded in stereo, i think)
- added some extra reverb and delay to the synths (hope you like it)
- removed some shitty effects, i don't like.

i hope you like the changes, i have made for this tune,

and please download the updated version of my remix,

comments, further suggestions will be appreciated,

cheers,

pete

yeah, its noticeable, just finished listening to the original which I dug up, and now about 2 mins into your updated version.. the intro leading into the first break sounds much fuller, the sounds more crisper and clearer (thus less dull, sounded a bit flat before). the first build up after the main break/during, sounded a bit weird, like it was inbetween a main buildup and a primary buildup (hard to explain here since I lack the technical knowledge). The main buildup/end of the break was at the 4min mark area I'm assuming, but the one 20 seconds before it sounded a bit strong, I thought it was a little bit weird for a buildup and realized you weren't done building it yet. Otherwise, good improvements on the original mate, still a good track. The percussion and pads are rolling in crisper.

still feels like its just not quite right, like almost there overall though.. hmm.. dunno, hehe.

Posted by Mycron on Feb-08-2004 14:09:

i recently, realzied some minor bugs so it's possible the tune will get another update (possibly it will be the final version),

anyway, thank you all again for your comments,

pete

Posted by fineart on Feb-10-2004 10:14:

hey mate,

sounds really chilly, anyway you should use more EQs for some track

keep doin' cool tunez,

Posted by Haak on Feb-11-2004 21:45:

cool, interesting remix
i like the fx in the beginning
the melody that comes in around 1 minute gives it a very different mood from the original
the sound lacks a bit of punch, and the bassline sounds off when it kicks in around 3:30, but a good effort

keep it up

Posted by DJPrototypeX on Feb-12-2004 01:47:

well hot damn...everythin sounds crisper and dead onto what i think you wanted it to be. excellent remix like i said before, now just a bit clearer. the melody sounds better, did u do somethin to it?

Posted by Dj-Gingi on Feb-12-2004 13:32:

its really good
reminds me of old school trance ;D i dunno why but it just does
all u really need to do is work on those leads a llittle and make the whole song a little louder
just some mastering
otherwise its really good
top notch!

Posted by Ally_the_Bruce on Feb-13-2004 03:31:

is it just me, coz to me it sounded awful, sounded like there was another tune playing over the top that didn't sync at all and it just sounded a mess :-/ have i got a dodgy copy or is it just me?

Posted by MykonosBoy22 on Feb-13-2004 03:50:

Thumbs up

its probably you.. good job on the remix.. you maybe niklas harding will play urs to.lol.. keep up the good work

Hey mate!

This sounds quite nice to me. I do have a few pointers though...

I think the overall sound of the track is quite hollow, I don't know what quite causes this, but perhap try eq'ing some brighter parts out of some synths here and there, plus some more mid levels on things like strings and pads.

I also think the sub synth (kind of metallic one) isn't always a 100% in key with the rest of the track, maybe it should follow the other melodies a bit more.

I think that's all, melodic parts seem all alright to me, just some mastering pointers. Keep it up!

Take care,
Wim

K, this is a lot better than the first version but still could use a lot of work. For one, the kick has like no low-end and practically gets drowned out after the breakdown. Remember, this is dance music, that kick really needs to thump. That little bass type melody that comes in at 1:16 is out of key and detracts a lot from the track IMO. I'd lower the reverb on the clap and make it sharper. There's also still a lot of muddiness, especially around the 1:40 mark. Sounds like everything has too much reverb on it or something, and you can barely distinguish between the different melodic elements and the bassline.

Things to change:
Kick
Snare
Bassline (Make all of them way more crisp).

Things that are great:
Effects! (these are really good)
Ambience, buildup.

This remix has a lot of potential, and like I said just needs a bunch of cleaning up.

Cheers, keep it up.
Sean

For the final version:

I don't know... I think you changed the not so good parts, but you changed the better parts as well. The intro was far better and interesting in the original. That intro was, what i liked best. Now it's...hmm...I don't know how how to say in english... It's more like the avarage trance tunes. It's not bad, but it was better.

Apart from that it's nice from 2:10, but could be more changing.

All in all it's far better than anything I've done lately.

Keep up

Chris
