Streets of Rage (1, 2 & 3)

Hi Everyone

Does anyone remember this classic for the Mega Drive/Genesis.

A bunch of crime fighting ex cops kicking the living sh*t out of street punks trying to take back the city, it was superb, especially in 2 player mode.

They really need to do a remake of this and have a 4 player mode.

Cheers

you better believe i remember this game! 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games of all time. it had a pretty decent soundtrack(piano house). i was actually playing 2 the other week, brought back great memories. part 4 is long overdue we should've had it by now

ahh man i just d/l this homebrew game for DC last week called 'Beats of Rage' its great

Posted by tsomo2000 on Feb-07-2004 00:07:

Remember the soundtrack to the club level on Streets of Rage 2, well good, LOL.

Infact im going to download an emulator tomorrow and play all 3.

Beats of rage, how does that work then, what is it?

Cheers

I think the Sega Smash Pack I have for GBA with Sonic Pinball on it has this game on it.

Definitely one of the best side scrollers along with Final Fight and Brawl Brothers.

3 had such awful music... but 1 and 2 had amazing music for the time... probably one of the first times house music was used in a video game... Great graphics for the time, I was desperately awaiting a Dreamcast remake... But unfortunately, the side scrolling beat-em-up is too "simplistic" for today's market If it doesn't have a huge plot or confusing controls or 3-D perspectives, it seems mainstream gamers don't want it anymore

Part 2 is soooooooo sweet

Posted by Shudder on Feb-07-2004 21:29:

theres a part 4?????

i remember playing 1 & 2 on the console. never really played 3 but i managed to get it for the emulator though it wasnt the same and the game kinda sucked.

i thought 2 was the best.

Beats Of Rage is available for the PS2, Xbox, & DC...no one is really givin a hoot about the PS2 and Xbox version cuz it was expected to be a great game to begin with...the DC version on the other hand is runnin on a slower system but still runs at the same speed as the other two with no slow down...a couple of mods are on their way...

i played this game, and it seriously reminded me of Street Of Rage...such a wonderful game...i played that on the Genesis and still remember playin through it...memories...

Do u need anything special to play beats of rage on the DC ? I'm downing it right, I'm very curious.

Oh yeah, I still having this game, but I don't play! I remember in the part II how you could choose 4 fighters; a girl, one skater, a black guy and a blond guy. Was one of my fav. mega drive games!!

Streets of rage 2 was the best out of the series.

Just downed Sega Smash Pack 1, now I can play Streets of Rages 2 over and over again. I hate myself that I sold mine Megadrive/Genesis nine years ago (with Sonic 1, 2 and 3, Streets of Rage 2, Micro Machines, Collumns, the first FIFA and a few other games)

You're right about the 4 fighters, except the skater was the black kid, who was the son of the black guy from the first one. The four fighters were Max- the wrestler, Blaze- the chick, Axel- the blond fighter, and Skate- the black kid on roller blades.

I know this cause I still play this game a lot I never got a system newer than Sega Genisis. Streets of Rage 2 is def. one of my top five sega games, up there with NBA Jam and Mike Tyson knockout. A good emulator to download is GENS, I have SoR 2 on there and it works perfectly.

.. actually, to be knit-picky, Adam wasn't the father of Skate, rather he had some other family affiliation with him. .. and by skater, he was referring to "Skate," and by "black guy," was referring to Adam (which, by the way, was not a character you could select in SoR 2 and SoR 3
