Yeh this basically sucked - but it would be fair to just say that it was terribele... here is why it sucked :

Umm.. wellll.. the percussion, although it has rythem, it's a bad one.. try listening to other techno songs a little closer..

the synths are loud, annoying, and sound like shit.. take music lessons if you want to further this at all..

I've been producing for 4 years and I still suck, but this song sounds close to my very first songs although they were done with samples and ACID not fruityloops...

I wonder if it's a bad thing that fruityloops is so easy if it leads to that.. hrrmmmm...

Posted by alanzo on Feb-07-2004 06:11:

Side Note: I'll be it's not as easy as you though when you first sat down with Fruityloops, huh!? mwahaha!

My ears are bleeding...and it's because of you

The most horrible song I've ever heard on TA... I certainly hope you can do better than that! almost everythin is wrong...

yeh I would probably have to agree with that, but it's mostly becuase you probably put almost no time into it. I would bet you put less then an hour of time into this track, I've done tracks that took months (literally)...

Posted by TranceSpeeder on Feb-07-2004 17:13:

lol.. sorry to hear that guys.. i know it sucks balls.. its just my first track! yea.. it did take me an hour.. lol.. im learning tho...

Posted by TranceSpeeder on Feb-07-2004 17:21:

btw.. this is just a track to get me started with anything... i dont have cash for anything big.. so, fruityloops is my way to go.. whats better than fruityloops anyway? should i try getting cubase? or reason? i have some better 1 hour songs.. there all kind of slow and boring tho.. they do sound better.. i just posted this one.. i was trying to make something uplifting.. but, i guass i should not do something i cant at the time what should i do to get better? like, i listen to allot of trance.. just what you all think? just practice allot more? should i get cubase or reason? whats ur opinions?

no fruity loops is a good program to start with. I use Sonar 3 but it's VERY ADVANCED and I wouldn't recommend it for someone who has been producing any less then 2 years. The one thing that helped me out a lot was getting a keyboard (a midi controller will do as well if you dont have the $$) and taking Piano/theory classes.. so that means learn scales.. major, minor.. etc etc..

aside from that read up on production teqniques in the production forum and experiment, experiment, experiment!.. it was about a year before I came out with a track that was BARELY listenable..

Guitar lessons are to rock and blues what piano lessons are to electronica, classical, and rap...

although guitar lessons will help, keyboard will help a lot as well...

as for a keyboard.. if you dont have a lot of money get a midi controller since a good keyboard will cost at least $600

Fruityloops is good to start with, I'm still a newb when it comes to create good music, but I'm learning quite fast though...hope to be able to show my talents soon

Don't buy a keyboard if you don't know how to use it, I'm on a course for piano and it really helps alot when creating nice tunes and melodies. When you feel that you know almost everything in FL, try something even more advanced... just a tip.
