Back from Ibiza!!!!!

Hey Guys, back from ibiza!!!!!! Once again, PVD was the man once again!!! He rocked the house again @ Amnesia. We manged to keep him on an extra hour and a half for the die hard fans!!!!! Not exactly a twilo 11 hr set but, at this point i'll take anything.... Seb Fontaine went before him and i have garnered a new respect for him. He was cool and in control and keep the beats hard all night. He got the crowd into it and even joined PVD in the booth and was pumping his fists during the entire pvd set. Also, a pleasant surprise was Ferry Corsten. His set blew me away. Simply Amazing!!!! He was the best at Eden on Judgement Sundays. Lisa Lashes also turned out to be a wonderful dj as i've never had the chance to hear her sets or see her live. Judge Jules was solid but cheesy. I just glad he didn't open his mouth during the set. At least the brits came out to support him in force. I checked out xtravanganza at Privelege. Beautiful club, listed as the biggest club in the guinness books. Too bad the dj's suck. Mark Spoon was decent but Alex P trainwrecked twice. Es Paradise was also a nice club but, the system and Dj's sucks as well. But, the staff juggler who had a glow in the dark balls was cool. We had our picture taken together and hopefully it will be either dj ibiza or mixmag magazine. I was supposed to visit Space during the day and Pacha on friday but my friend got sick so i cancelled the last two days of clubbing. I also got to check our cafe mambo and Cafe del mar. But to the business at hand....i brought cds back to share but need server space...Heres what i got

By the way, the most disappointing aspect of the trip was the tourists. Way too many brits and italians in San Antonio that don't know shit about electronic dance music! (no offense guys on TA)Suddenly electronic dance music is in vogue. However, i did meet people from cali, brooklyn (in the house), texas, Ireland who did represent. And the people of ibiza are just cool... I also meet the photographer from cream uk. He was also mad cool...If u want the the true ibiza experience stay clear of San Antonio!!!! Its a freakin town thats been overrun by tourists. Stay in ibiza town where the true spirit of ibiza is!!!!

Posted by flystyler on Aug-05-2001 18:43:

you make us all jealous. But what is wrong with brits. Anyway that is where most of us go for our holidays.

I am goin next year, i take it u would recommened it

Posted by Elysium on Aug-05-2001 18:52:

Nothing wrong with brits but, they have overrun San Antonio. Its not an ibizian town anymore. Every night u see brits lying about in San Antonio all drunk and passed out. Don't get me wrong, i met plenty of gatecrasher kids who were there for the music. I'm talking about the vacation tourists who obviously don't care about the muzik or the balearic vibe. None of the ibizian people will take a step near San Antonio. They hate it there. Too many tourists have taken over the town and it has the lost the essense that made it an ibizian town.

Posted by flystyler on Aug-05-2001 18:55:

i know, i think jules was sayin about the 5% who are not therefor the music. That is the % who ruin it. Well i cant say much, i hope to move out there. Well that is my dream.

Posted by Twilogoddess on Aug-05-2001 19:05:

Talking

DJ Garfield WHY DID U Stay in San Antonio? Everyone I know that has been to Ibiza specifically advised me NOT to stay there. Who else did u see? I leave Aug 29th I'm staying right next to Space. I can't friggin wait. My best friend & I have been doin a countdown for wks now. 24 days!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Posted by Elysium on Aug-05-2001 19:08:

I didn't stay in san antonio. I was at pikes hotel but, visiting the town of san antonio was a disgrace. I think 5% were there for the musik and 95% were there to vacation.

Posted by Elysium on Aug-05-2001 19:12:

I also saw Godskitchen at amnesia. Tall Paul was solid as always. I didn't like Fergie though. He would lay down hard beats and then have a long ass break during every freaking song. Not great for dancing. Twilogoddess, go to space on sundays. I heard that when the parties are happening there or during one of the day sessions. Also try to go to Pacha. I was supposed to go friday but my friend fell ill. All the big events are at Amnesia for the big name dj's.

Posted by Izzy on Aug-05-2001 19:21:

Garfield... thanks for the stories! i love hearing about ibiza be it good or bad. i was watching (still am) the broadcast of bbc radio one in ibiza. actually on their site they said that there are less tourists on the island than last year, "flights to the island down 20%"... which is really good i think.

seems like you had the time of your life.

Posted by flystyler on Aug-05-2001 19:27:

Has brandon block got a resondancy at space??? I am sure i saw him there, on some tv show

I loved ibiza. i'm actually looking to go back for the day at the closing partty for Amnesia. I sat right in front of the dj booth at Amnesia for PVd with my homemade PVD logo shirt. I'm not sure if he heard me but, i yelled near the end of his set to play for an angel. I also made the angel wings sign with my rave n parties. Next thing u know, two songs later For an angel comes on right after Cream!!! HAHAHaa!!! I asked for his signature when he was done but, i think he was rather tired and refused. Thats okay though. I got what i came for!!!! I took one whole roll of photos of Fontaine and PVD. He was wearing his Vandit shirt. He was definitely the best Dj there. Ferry was a close second. Tiesto was solid but never came close to touching ferry and PVD. It was funny, four guys from boston were alos wearing their own homemade PVD Shirts. It said Twilo on the front and his logo on the back and written underneath, "thanks for the memories." I have the Ministry Ibiza, mixmag ibiza, dj ibiza august issues, so if anybody needs dj info give me a holler. Oh yeah, twilogoddess try to check out these events. I heard they were good. Tunnel trance force at privelege, Dc 10.

I plan on going to Ibiza next summer but don't know much about the place except for the clubs. Where is a good place to stay at a good price?

Posted by Flowtation on Aug-05-2001 23:14:

I'm going to IBIZA on the 19th August and i'm a brit and i'm stayin in San Antonio which is a fucking awesome place!!! much better than ibiza town in my opinion... the town is cool if ya into transvestites coz its full of them lol....most brits go there for the clubs drugs music and sex so i think your 5% guess is a load of bollocks!

Posted by Elysium on Aug-05-2001 23:49:

U are wrong man... Yes the people are their to party but they don't care about the music and Dj's. All they care about is getting high and dancing. Ask the people of ibiza how they feel about San Antonio. they will tell u. If u think that overrunning a town and changing everything about it is great, more power to u. I don't have a problem with brits. Its what the people are doing over there which is a sacrilege in my opinion. You'd say the same thing if a whole bunch of foreigners moved into london and overran the place. U'd be saying wtf too. Its easy for u to say because u don't live there. I think it only reflects the shallowness of people and booking agents in london. Almost all the people didn't come to experience the balearic vibe. U can tell. To alot of them, its just party time. Thats disappointing and disrespectful to the island itself. If i ever went to sheffield, i think i would want to see what else it had to offer instead of simply going Gatecrasher. Is that all Ibiza offers to u sex and drugs and music? Rather shallow. I didn't say this applied to all in San Antonio but, it does to a certain degree. Its basically turned into an english town. I think its sad that u support it. Even some of gatecrasher kids mentioned the travesty in this. I don't understand how u can't see it.

Posted by Twilogoddess on Aug-06-2001 00:24:

Be Cool!

DJ Garfield I'm definately goin to Space Sept 2 for Sasha's B-day party, Digweed, Lawler & Jimmy Van M. I'm go to places based on whose spinning. I follow the DJ. I know I will definately be at Godskitchen on tues & Cream on thurs.

Posted by Flowtation on Aug-06-2001 00:36:

London is over run by foreigners lol... If you went there to see what the island had to offer why the fuck did you stay in Ibiza town? thats not the true Ibiza or is it? The island wouldn't even have a Balearic vibe if it wasen't for the brits dutch and germans etc goin over there and giving the country the ingredients... and yes alot of people do go there for the Music clubs drugs and sex... why the fuck is that shallow? sorry u sound like a boring old man who should shut the fuck up... i think its very shallow tryin to blame one part of the world (UK) for san antonio's problem! By the way all the clubs you went to are owned by people that aren't even from island they are from uk italy germany etc. Why didn't u just say u had a nice time instead of getting all political on us!

sorry to offend anyone else but it got my back up him blaming UK without any real knowledge... why do americans always have a problem with us brits?

Posted by Excite on Aug-06-2001 01:04:

The difference between Europeans and Americans is that Europeans don't bitch about drug use. Bitching about drug use is typically American. And America is the country with drug problems.

Posted by Elysium on Aug-06-2001 01:08:

U idiot. Read what i write, not what u think i said. I never blamed the UK for anything.Thats just your stupid justification. I met plenty of UK people who were cool and they expressed the same feelings as me. Its the people who stay in San Antonio and never venture outside to explore anything about the island. Obviously, u are one of these people. U know nothing about respect for the people or the country u visit. U are just another one of the dumb foreigners who are there to party. I had a great time despite people with your attitude. I went for the music and to see the island and the people. i didn't go to huddle in a town among my own people u loser. Its the kinda of attitude u have that people in ibiza hate. And for your info, any true ibizian that lives there clubowner or not despises setting foot in San Antonio.

Posted by Flowtation on Aug-06-2001 02:35:

i'm a loser and a idiot because i didnt agree with what you said? you are so self-centered... so everyone that doesn't agree with what you say is a loser and a idiot well that sums you up doesn't it.

i have been all over ibiza... not just to san antonio i think u should stop tripping, i agree with part of what your saying yeh i guess it has been overidden with people who don't give a shit about the locals, but its just the same as most of the popular holiday destinations... you did point the finger at the uk and thats what i didn't like ok...

say your sorry and i will forgive you

Posted by Elysium on Aug-06-2001 05:00:

No, U are not a loser and idiot for not agreeing with me. U are only retarded for defending what u already know is wrong with the island. I specifically said my comments were not directed at EVERYONe from the UK. I specifically even mention cool kids i did meet from england. Its just sad to see drunk kids sleeping on the outskirts of the roads leading to San Antonio. I just think its disrespectful to the people of the island. People in the uk are extremely lucky. U live only 1-2 hours from ibiza and the trek is so much easier than the US. U can go every weekend to enjoy the music if u can afford it. Thats why its disheartening to see people abuse it. Not just UK people, even the italians, americans or whoever. My only hope is that on your trip that u enjoy the music and respect the island and people. The only apology i will offer is in regards to the UK, as for the idiots is San Antonio, I stand by my words and u understand why.

I were in Ibiza end of June and went twice to San Antonio. BBC Radio 1's event at Cafe Del Mar was good but second night in Judgement Sundays @ Eden was rubbish! That place haven't got Ibiza feeling at all!!! Full of British teenagers, puking all over around and acting foolishly. Ferry Corsten & Taucher played there good sets, then came Judge the 'fudge' Jules and ruined our night - we had to leave immediately bcos of that idiot DJ!

djgarfield is right, streets of San An is full of Brits (all of em aren't idiots) but don't go there if you don't want to ruin your holiday bcos small % of them might get your holiday feeling down! I stayed in Ibiza Town (Vara De Rey), that town is opposite of San An, it has got more international feeling and it doesn't have that many teenagers on the streets.

Best nights during the week were:

We Love... Sundays @ Space
:: Danny Tenaglia played very good se, dark - tribal - tech house. Atmosphere is unbelivable... recommended!

Dance Valley @ Amnesia
:: Dj Remy is one of my favourite progressive dj's at the moment, this was my second time I heard him, TOP!

Perfecto opening @ Pacha
:: Oakenfold played awesome set and Pacha is the most beatiful club on the island

my friends and i are planning on hitting up ibiza next summer... heres a question though

how long did you stay and approx how much did you spend?

Posted by litlitaly on Aug-06-2001 13:48:

I blame companies like Club 18-30 for the problems in Ibiza. They are the ones who attract the 'beer-boys' of San Antonio AND they encourage their behaviour! I went with Club 18-30 to Ibiza with six of my mates and i'd say that only forty percent of people there were interested in clubbing. The rest were there to get drunk and destroy the reputation of the British tourist.

PLEASE REMEMBER this is NOT a true representation of the British public! Merely an unsightly minority who bring shame on us all.

EXCITE: From my experience, it's best to stay in or around San Antonio. It's only a five minute walk max to the sunset strip (Cafe Del Mar, Cafe Mambo, Savannah's, Coastline and the recently built Sugar Sea). The atmosphere is just electric and the sunsets are amazing. This is far superior to the pre-club experience in Ibiza Town.

In terms of getting to clubs, Eden and Es Paradis are in the centre of San Antonio while the other clubs on the island can be reached by bus. These run twice hourly from the port is San Antonio. I can give you directions from the sunset strip if you need them.
The bus costs 250 ptas (1 / $1.50) to Privilege and Amnesia and about 400 ptas to Ibiza Town.

Also, believe me that it's well worth coming out of Eden or Es Paradis in the early hours of the morning, watching the sunrise with mist rolling off the mountains to the left while walking back to your hotel!

San Antonio only becomes 'hell-on-earth' from about 20:00 so is fine during the day.

If you need any more information just send me an e-mail or leave me a message.
