Boa Sound System

Just found out that there the've tweaked it even more, apparently there only running it at just over 50% wow.

Posted by The Highroller on Feb-10-2004 22:55:

What's with all this "they're not running it at full capacity" hype? It's getting pretty lame. Why don't they just turn the f-ing system up and stop fucking around!!

This isn't to bash you Pettiscool, it's to bash Boa!!

Posted by Skipper on Feb-10-2004 23:09:

I think it's a load of hype...

They want people to say "Oh! they've tweaked the sound! wow, how is that possible?! it was perfect! well, gotta go back and check it out..."

although I haven't been there yet to really comment (Scumfrog will be my 1st visit)...keep in mind that louder does not necessarily = better. Jeez, my ears were ringing for more than 2 days after UltraSpin 4!!!

Furthermore, no club would have a grand opening with a subpar sound system.
I might believe if it was 85% ready when they opened, but 50%? Doubt it...no business owner has a grand opening with only half their shit together!

Posted by Rocco on Feb-11-2004 02:42:

well i personally cna't support a club that only allows 21+ crowd.

even after i turn 21, i won't step a foot in that club.

i beg to differ...have you seen their website?

steve.

I think this is just a rumour of an original rumour. Its true that for the first party (Sander K) it was at about 75%. I heard they had it completely installed for the grand opening. Unless they've already upgraded their system (which is highly doubtful since it kicks the shit outta any other already), im guessing this info is false.

I thought Boa's sound system was pretty good. As good as Centro-Fly's for those who are in NYC. But it's really the vibe and layout of the club that really makes this place incredible to me. The acoustics are amazing because it was a form movie theatre so it has an amphitheatre shape. The club is also really nice and really friendly. I'd party there any day. The only thing this place lacks is a good light show.

It stands to reason actually....their website is case-and-point...
did I mention their website stinks?

Actually I just checked and guess what....it's changing...

They heard me after all!!

OMFG......who the fuck ARE these brainiacs????
Click on the Scumfrog flyers and see if you can read that...

I was probably the biggest doubter of this place before it opened, due to fears it would simply be the arrogance that is Film Part II.

It isn't the case. The layout is simply amazing, and the system is fantastic. You can have a normal conversation standing beside the stacks.

The "only running @ less than 100% capacity" is simply a reflection of the crowds so far, as well as the DJs playing not a marketing tool.

They aren't measuring it in boom factor, since the crapiest sound system can make big ear-shattering booms, but in quality and clarity. If it gets any better, I think all those tracks will qualify as whole new sounds to me, even though I've heard them elsewhere.

Staff and ownership get friendlier by the week, as it is with any club, the regulars get the hugs and handshakes, so if you want to beter your Boa experience, GO OFTEN

He works for the club - I'd say he'd be one of the first people to make this shit up.

How does he even know what the sound system is at? Is he a sound engineer?

Posted by TrickDaddE on Feb-11-2004 18:56:

Way to set them stright Skipper.
I was going to mention how the average club-goer would be able to tell the difference in a soundsystem (especially after consuming alcohol or other substances). Unless it was a brutal setup.

Chill out, ok?
This isn't a personal attack on your friend - I'm just saying it doesn't make any sense that the system is operating at 50%.
He may just be going by what management is telling him.
