Actually he decided to leave as he felt he had a good run but did not want to get stale. More importantly, he left so he could focus more time on his studio productions and the start of his new company which produces sound scores for Television and movies.
No scandel.....just a smart business decision for him made by him.

yep...like many smart business men and women in music, many choose to broaden their horizons and look to production. his production company was involved with creating the track that was used in the Smirnoff "Are we Locked Inside" Pure Perfection commercial which was really slick! Can be a very lucrative profession if you can impress some big agencies with your early work!
you can view his reel here
to see what his company has been working on production wise.
But from what I hear...there was no firing. Just the need to dabble in some new things!
after he left System I didn't think that he'd be residenting anymore .. why did he end up choosing to resume at Pulse anyway? won't that take away from his producing which was his original intention .. ?
just curious ..
Too bad I already have birthday plans for the 14th.....
But it's amazing that Pulse has all these DJs as residents. You will always be able to count on amazing music.
feel the PULSE through ur body
FIRST THINGIS FIRST Startin in march PUSLE is gonna be crazeeee.....
I just gotta say everyone should come out and join the underground experience this SAT V-DAY and if not gotta be here in march
It seeeems like the later it gets the better the party ges also dj's r sick and the PULSE is jjust right hahah c everyone der otherwise everyhtign else is just waist of time !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Originally posted by Mrs.Spice I dunno because now he has to play at shittier clubs like System and Comfort Zone. I think system wanted some fresh new music because Mark is a really boring DJ IMO>

there was a thread on TRIBE about this when he initially left System. I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that he was initially going to be included among the various residents at system after the re-launch but chose to part ways.
He posts in it himself:

Originally posted by Walter Mindz What's the differnce betweeen 4 hours vs 8 hours??? It's double the time, therefore double the work. What do you think when Dj's get new records each week? DJ's have to listen to them all more than a few times to figure out what tracks work well together and to decide where and when would be a good time to put those tracks into their mix each week. Dj's have to know the songs they're gonna play in detail. For 4 hours it's about 40 records or so that they would have to work with (dj's bring more than that with them though because the set for the night always changes depending on mood and how the crowd reacts) and 8 hours can be anywhere between 70 to 100 records. Understand now??? It's time consuming!!!!

Originally posted by Mrs.Spice thanks for the lecture. i would know of all people since my boyfriend spins jungle and has to mix in new records all the time (not every 7 min like prog djs) and djs don't get that many records a week at all. at least not local djs dont worry we'll put you in charge of the markscaifefanclub.com

I'm glad to hear you had a good time.
Too bad you won't be at Guvernment to check out Diggers do his thang...what with despising progressive music and all. Still, something tells me it's going to be an awesome party as well. Hope springs eternal though, and with time between now and the event, perhaps the 'informative' thread on Diggers vs Corsten might get you to change your mind.
Though i'm not going to hold my breath

Just to clarify my point:
I was told the same thing from both Mark directly as well as from the Breathe promotion crew for which I was doing an interview with for another music site......that Mark felt he was burning out, doing the weekly eight hour marathons and wanted to devote more time to his business. The promoter made it very clear that it was Mark's decision to leave.
He cut out almost all his gigs but as far as I know, still plays Element sometimes as well as Pulse.
I could go on about the difficulties between mixing prog vs jungle but I will say this to our always sassy Mrs Spice: Just as hard and draining.....jungle mixes are fast and furious..I agree with you..but they are also very short and finite. Prog mixes can use blends well past two minutes in length...and if your boyfriend is a DJ...as you always remind us....then he will very much know how hard it is to keep things in phase and interacting properly for that long
