Twisted 2004- April 10th @ Plaza of Nations (Armin, Above&Beyond...)

For the past six years, Twisted Productions has been dedicated to presenting top quality events to the people of the North West. Each spring, we look forward to bringing you our signature party, Twisted, where we showcase the best of what we have to offer, each year in return, we have received a great deal support in the attendance and energy that is brought to the show. This year, our fifth annual Twisted, is an even more cherished event as it will be the last of this series to take place at the beautiful Plaza of Nations. What does the future hold from here and what will happen to our scene? -- This has always been a question that has plagued the party culture and we ask you to leave this question in our hands. For on this night our hope is that once again the partiers of BC come out and forget there troubles and there differences, and together celebrate and enjoy the amazing music, the awesome energy, the diverse people, the beautiful surroundings of the Plaza of Nations, and the legend that is Twisted.

ROOM 1 - TRANCE / PROGRESSIVE / HARD HOUSE

ARMIN VAN BUUREN, Netherlands
Armind, ID&T, Black Hole, Vandit, www.arminvanbuuren.com

This will be the third time in 12 months that Twisted has had the honour of bringing Armin to Vancouver, but when your this good, 3 times is not enough! Whatever can be said about him, not much can do justice for this DJ superstar that is ranked in the #3rd DJ IN THE WORLD (DJ Magazine). Born in Leiden, Holland (The Netherlands), Armin has been driven to produce music since he first heard Dutch Master Mixer Ben Liebrand at the age of 14. He describes his musical style as euphoric, uplifting, melodic and energetic. At his current young age, Armin's career as a producer, in itself, has the capability to deem him as a global remixing and musical genius of the 21st century. As one of the three Dutch trance figures alongside artists Tiesto and Ferry Corsten, and working with world renowned DJ's like Paul van Dyk, he has produced numerous hits that have made a lasting impact on almost every European Electronic Music Chart since 1995. Some of the tracks you may know include Blue Fear, the Sound of Goodbye, Communication, Touch Me, and Exhale. In addition, Armin's DJ career has been nothing less than phenomenal as he rocks crowds at ID&T, Cream, Slinky, Peach, Dance Valley and Gatecrasher, and in cities like Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Jerusalem, Helsinki, Ibiza, and Moscow on a continual basis. Armin's fan base is unbelievable as aspiring DJ's and partiers alike profess their loyalty to his style.

This city has always loved the epic and monumental sounds of Trance, and who better to take us into a memorable, melodic journey -- be sure not to miss out as DJ Armin van Buuren rocks the decks at Twisted 2004.

ABOVE & BEYOND, London, UK
a.k.a. Oceanlab, Dirt Devils, Anjunabeats, Passion

Above & Beyond are DJ/producers Jono Grant, Tony McGuiness and Paavo Siljamki; making music collectively and individually under monikers including Oceanlab, Tranquillity Base, Nitromethane, POS, Aalto, the Dirt Devils and Free State. Through a combination of silky production skills and uplifting DJ sets, Above & Beyond are fast becoming one of the strongest moving forces behind electronic music. The September 2003 issue of Mixmag singles out Above & Beyond as one of the most prominent trance acts in the world today. The boys have remixed tracks like Madonna "What It Feels Like For A Girl" and Armin van Buuren presents Perpetuous Dreamer "Sound Of Goodbye," as well as artists such as Delerium, Three Drives, and the Japanese superstar Ayumi Hamasaki. The trio's Anjunabeats label has become a firm favourite amongst major players like Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Matt Hardwick ("easily my favourite label right now") and Tiesto. Armin van Buuren admits, "I can't remember the last set that didn't have an Above & Beyond production in it. They sound great on the radio and rock any dancefloor." With their music production as their testament, Above & Beyond are now rocking dance floors worldwide and establishing that they are indeed also amazing DJ's.

TRAV-S, Red Deer, AB
Club Euphoria, Twisted, Nexus Tribe

DJ TRAV-S currently lives in Red Deer and holds residencies at the Catwalk Dance Club, Sublime, and Euphoria. Well known as the pioneer of Trance in the area, this DJ has now exploded onto the West coast area and is posed to enter the U.S. scene this summer. With 9 years experience in the dance industry, he has played alongside Armin van Buuren, Mauro Picotto, and Tiesto, to name a few. TRAV-S brings a unique style of pumping melodic trance. Always keeping the crowd charged up, this trance DJ brings dance floor energy to a new level.

Twisted, Swing Kids - OFFICIAL "TWISTED" CD RELEASE! - www.azimvirani.com (coming soon)

After 7 successful years of both DJing and promoting in the North West, Twisted's founder Azim is finally releasing his first DJ compilation, titled non other than "Twisted." Expect some personal favourites and classics combined with some unreleased tunes, fresh tracks, and specially cut remixes, blended together with the pumping, energetic, and moving style that he is known for.

ROOM 2 - BREAKS/DRUM N'BASS

KRAFTY KUTS, London, UK

Finger Lickin, Supercharged, Against the Grain, www.fingerlickin.co.uk, www.superchargedmusic.com

We brought him out last year and figured with Brighton based Krafty Kuts aka Martin Reeves being at an all time DJ'ing high, with multiple record releases this past year alone, we'd bring him back where he will drop a 2.5 hour set of un-released funk! His DJ style is best described as a Hip Hop funk infusion of up-tempo breaks and beats. Having been responsible for the massive world wide success of the Tricka Technology album released this past year under Finger Lickin with talented youngster A. Skillz, as well as DJ'ing regularly under the Finger Lickin banner, Martin is firmly part of the Finger Lickin family among other labels including his own Supercharged and Against the Grain. It's not surprising that DJ Magazine readers have voted Krafty one of the top 100 DJ's in the world, and more specifically in the top 10 break beat maestros for the last 3 years! Breaks heads will agree that Krafty has been and continues to be one of the driving forces in the worldwide Breaks/Hip Hop scene which is why we thought as one of our last shows at the Plaza of Nations, we have only the best dropping what will be the set to remember.

With locals:
Manos One vs. Dabbler - Twisted Junglist Kru, Bassix, Rewind Rec., Whitebird, Panama Bazaar
Precise vs. Kraig - Twisted, AGROculture.ca
Cinto - Twisted, Malicious Rec., Breaklogix
Krusha - Twisted Junglist Kru
Chigga - Twisted, AGROculture.ca
Sheps - Twisted

ROOM 3 - HOUSE/FUNKY HOUSE

DJ HYPERFUNK, Seattle, WA
Next Level, Housewreckin?, www.djhyperfunk.com

His name is his sound. Specializing in funky house and breaks, this seattle local has rocked crowds all over the country, including New York, Utah, and even Ancorage! Anthony, a.k.a. Hyperfunk, has established residencies at two of settles premier clubs, Club Medusa and Last Supper Club, as well as two Production companies, Next Level-Seattle and Housewreckin-Anchorage, where he has warmed up the decks for Keoki, Donald Glaude, Scott Henry, Dj Skribble, and Richard "Humpty" Vission to name a few, and has performed at renowed gigs like the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Anne Savage @ The Cave has nothing to do with solid, it is being done by Twisted. Also, this event will be on a Saturday.

they stopped letting people in.. we had to wait 2 hours in line (a short line, mind you) while no one was let in, while vip's were walking freely in... we missed the first 45 minutes of armin's set.

not to mention, (this might not have been twisted's fault), the security was absolutely awful... taunting a very intoxicated woman to take off her shirt and they'd let her in, with the crowd of sketchy asian guys in line cheering with a mob-like roar... made me really uncomfortable.

anyways, you'll soon come to know that twisted events are not really the best to attend. unfortunately they always tend to bring everything to town.

sounds pretty bad
