Man this was one hell of a night. I got to the club about 8 30 or so and chilled. Then little by little more people arrived. When we went up to the vip room.. BAM... there was Ferry Corsten right in front of our faces. Corsten seemed like a very nice guy and gladly signed all my cds as well as mikes vinyls. I even chatted with him a bit about trance energy and trance.nu.

Corsten Opened his Set with Kyoto, but there was a problem with the sound system. Awww man it was terrible for the first 3 songs. Then the team corrected the problem and the party started to kick and the glow sticks raving in figure 8's as usual. I was kind of disappointed that his 2nd song was Solid globe - Sahara and the sound system sounded very awkward and hard to hear.

other songs in his set included
Davy van eynde feat fara - irawadi (original mix)
Super 8 - alba
Ferry Corsten - Punk
Ferry Corsten - Indiago
Carte Blanche - Veracocha
Gouryella - Ligaya
Corderoy - Sweetest Dreams (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Ferry Corsten - Rock your body, rock

If I remember correctly I think he threw down BT - Force of Gravity (Ferry Corsten Bootleg Remix) in the middle of his set. Then sound system began to malfunction again!! The fellow Ta's were kinda upset when that happened.

Overall it was one hell of a night. Best time I've had in a club in a good while. The mbar is a great place to go clubbing. It was great seeing the spundae team and hope to see ya next week at dj rap.

Big thanks to Ferry Corsten for making it out to Houston and being so kindly to signing my cds. And as always Thanks to Sean Carnahan & the spundae team for making this event possible.

Im off to bed now. Later

Yes man.. it was force of gravity and man were we pissed!!!

it was a great night though.. got to meet ferry!! so awesome. =)

Zewad...>Brent

Posted by Numb3rJuan on Feb-22-2004 18:11:

uhh no.. but we did see ferry chillin outside of barcode like he was just a regular stranger.

Posted by Numb3rJuan on Feb-22-2004 18:12:

oh and it was nice seeing the fellow TA's and meeting brent (zewad) for the first time. it's never a great event if you can't share it with your fellow ta's

Posted by djseanc on Feb-22-2004 20:11:

thank you

That was a really fun night!

thank you to all of the TAs that represented and enjoyed the event.
Especially to the TAs that are part of spundae team houston that really gave the event what is was all about. music and people.

I dont know if you all caught hte others sets downstairs and early on but all truly were on point.

Ferry is one of the coolest people ive met in that level of a DJ. He truly had a blast, said he loved the people, who were very up for it, and so, felt right at home, Wanted to meet everyone after the event and hung out like he was just chillin at his home. WHich is what Spundae is all about, its a home for those who love music, DJ's, producers and people on the dancefloor.

M Bar is very good looking club and even more so with all of you in it..

As for the sound problem early on, we found the problem and it should not be an issue any longer. Seems we carted in over 25 bassbins to beef the sound up and hte power couldnt handle Ferry's Beats. So our sound guy who was a McGuyver on the spot re routed additional power last night and things should be fine from now on.

Ferry loved it, we loved it, and hope you did too and see you next week with Rap and Victor Dinaire (and most of you should know who Victor is)

Best to you

Sean

regards,
MArio O.

the place was packed, the club was awesome, the lights were dope, everything was awesome. saw everyone goin crazy to ferry, which is what it's all about !!

it was amazing being able to meet ferry and takin pics and gettin my records signed, and just askin him in person questions i've wanted to know about his music... unbelievable.

glad you guys got to meet him too... he's alot shorter than i expected no? lol

props to Sean and the Spundae Team for throwin a dopeass party with one of my favorite DJ's. The names on my list of DJs i've always wanted to hear are getting crossed off thanks to Spundae.
next up... Zabiela?! G&D?! PVD?@!!?!?!?

Agnelli & Nelson - Holding Onto Nothing
Guarana - Loud Speaker
Mojado feat. Mr Sam - Naranja (Dimitri Andreas Vision) ..damn this track was f*ckin bangin!
BT - Force Of Gravity (Ferry's Bootleg Mix) ..omgggg the speakers cut out right at the CLIMAX OF THE SONG!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i was so upset i wanted to throw my shoe at somebody haha... but ohwell they came back on for the second climax so it was all good. i asked him about this remix and he said "oh well i really liked certain parts of the original so i made my own remix just for me, no one else has it" w00T!

glad to see everyone had fun. i saw ferry and emily walkin on the street to barcode and they went in but they were chargin $10 to get in and it was like almost 4am so we were like ehhh fuckit let's call it a night.

Ahh what a night. Overall it wasn't the best weekend that I've had, 2 of the main reasons why, being that M-Bar was acoustically shithouse and all that great music and DJing went to waste on that terrible venue, oh and uhh the speeding ticket I kinda got on the way back to SA ...don't get me wrong, the venue was awesome in every other way but it just wasn't designed with hosting an international DJ in mind. A nice bar, but bad call on spundae's part, cos if they really are dedicated to great music then the sound system and the acoustics of the venues they host parties at should be none other than first priority.

BUT, this was all made up for as I had a great time hanging out with our now-closer mates in Houston, and also thanks to the pic that we got with Ferry. F u c k he's a legend. I wish I had gotten a chance to talk to him for a couple of minutes instead of just being another passer-by, shaking his hand and forming a puddle of semen at my feet. You can tell that he avoids being a superstar and prefers to be down-to-earth for the sake of his fans, ahh you've gotta love him. Played some corkers too -

Ferry Corsten - Punk
Ferry Corsten - Rock Your Body, Rock
Super 8 - Alba
Agnelli & Nelson - Holding Onto Nothing
4x4 - Indigo
...among others that pwnd me

Encore:
Corderoy - Sweetest Dreams (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Gouryella - Ligaya (not to be confused with adagio )
Veracocha - Carte Blanche (Original Mix)
System F - Solstice
ps: wtf was the 5th encore track Mars??

Anywho, cheers to Santos, Emerson, Mario, Albert and the rest of the crew for the best of company, and especially for the priceless effort in getting us you-know-whats Top blokes. (that's aussie for great guys hahaha)

How did everyone pull up?

yeah, he didn't play this track. It would have been awesome if he had. When he dropped Solstice I ran my happy ass down the stairs so fast. Was anticipating that mindblowing drop at the end but it never came
Nevertheless greatful for Right of Way, Holding On to Nothing, Carte Blanche, and ligaya.
Gotta rant on the sound system being the worst part of the night.
However Ferry didn't let that get him down, he's just that great of a dj.

greets to all the San Antone TAs and to Brent and Kenny.
And of course thanx H-town TAs and the Spundae crew for a memorable party.
