Getting In To Sona / Stereo

Me and some friends are heading up to Montreal on the Aug.24th weekend (anything special going on this weekend?) and we are planning on hitting either Sona and/or Stereo. I've been hearing all sorts of things about these 2 places, so wanted to get the straight facts.

Sona (this is what I've heard): Saturday is the best night to go. You should try to get there before 2am, otherwise your might wait a while. Guys should always bring girls with them so the bouncers will let you in. It will be 4 guys and 2 girls, should that be ok? Is there a dress code / how do people dress there? How are the searches?

Stereo (what i've heard): Friday is the best night, Saturday is gay night? How is the line up? Do they also pick and choose here (i.e. you need girls)? Dress code? Searches?

Any other relevant info. is appreciated. Also, I've been hearing about "Aria", how is that club?

Cheers,
Tech1200

Sona is a bitch, but it usually ends up being worth it. So one of 2 things, and I'm sure its been said before: get there early (before 2am) or bring (pretty) women (because I've seen girls that were pretty nasty waiting in line next to all the guys).

Dress code wise, dont look like your going to a posh club and dont look candy raverish. Somewhere in between is where it's at. It's sorta like gatecrasher's dress policy (although there's isn't written in stone)

Quoting...

Blue Hair is not essential...but the right attitude is.
We at Gatecrasher appreciate glamour and originality. So, no Kickers, Rockports or Timberland shoes, no denim or sportswear, don't wear any heavily badged tops (YSL, Ralph Lauren, Ben Sherman etc) or any checked shirts.
Please ensure that all trainers are smart clean clubbing trainers.
If you are unsure of anything please call us on 0114 276 6777.
Cyber gear is not prohibited but at the same time is not the necessary uniform to gain entry into Gatecrasher.
Please put the effort into something smart that you feel comfortable clubbing in, even if it doesn't illuminate of it's own accord...
Dress up and look cool...You have arrived.

So enjoy Montreal, but if your expecting trance look elsewhere... If your still here on Sunday, you might want to check out 'Living' for some trance or if your more into House try 'China Club' two great places for sunday night. As for Aria, I haven't been (yet.. soon, maybe this weekend), so I have nothing to say about it.

Stereo used to be selective, but I haven't been in 2 years.. I haven't heard of much comming from that club these days. There's Angel Morales once/month and I think XL might still spin there, although he's been at Sona more often.

sylphin is right....we have had these discussions already....no trance can be found at these clubs..so dont freak out and bring ephidrine or any other stimulant (speed) cuz u might need it as we are the city that doesnt sleep...at 9:55 am...the clubs are still packed so enjoy

p.s bring (pretty) women....sylphin cracks me up

if you're going to go to sona, go on a saturday night. it is much better on sat. then on fri.
fridays attract a younger crowd, and its not as busy, but saturdays there are more ppl and an older crowd. lots of hot girls on saturdays too. 90% of the ppl there are fucked on one drug or another, so beware the sketchbags and the shirtless sweaty guys who will bump into you every 30 seconds.
the searches at sona arent bad. you will go through a metal detector and then some dude will pat you down. not too bad.
you dont have to get there early. 4 guys and 2 girls should get you in pretty easily. just dont be an ass to the bouncers if you dont get in right away.

stereo i dunno cause i've never been, but it's supposed to be amazing. the sound system is supposedly top notch and the girls there are hot too. the club attracts a gay crowd, but i dunno on which night.

aria is kickass. i've only been once - on a sat night - so i dunno which night is better. get there early cause the lineup gets long. but its worth the wait cause the girls, lights, sound, everything is top notch.

thats about all i can think of now...

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated. For people that have been to Sona/Stereo/Aria, how would you categorize the music they play on specific nights? I realize no trance, but I'm looking for Progressive.

Sometimes and get Trance !!

Sometimes sona get Trance DJ'S but rarely.
I only heard to Trance DJ's at Aria since it's open (4 months) so it's not really about Trance.

The after-hours club in Montreal are more Techno on Friday and House on saturday.
At Sona on 24th it's Tiga and Hybrid!
At Aria on 24th it's Adam X and Robert De La Gauthier.
Stereo = ????? They still july on their web-site!!!
