Dilema - Ferry Corsten or John Digweed

Advice anyone for a Newbie TA.
What would be the better event to attend.
Ferry Corsten @ GUV or John Digweed @ Koolhaus??????

Any suggestions?

If I were going to go to either, I'd pick ferry.

HEH

i would have to say go see Ferry ffs, Digweed isnt doin much lately

Posted by Mrs.Spice on Feb-15-2004 19:49:

go see ferry. he's much more fun to party to.

Posted by Cyrus King on Feb-15-2004 19:56:

If you want to fall asleep...go see Digweed

Hmmm...seems the Pro-Ferrys have infected this thread...

My pull for Diggers...

But then it more depends on what you like.

Both are veterans in their own right, both are very good.

Diggers is a more aquired taste while Ferry is everyone's taste (if that makes sense?).

I say do one and then next time do the other; they'll both be back eventually...

I've seen diggers a couple times and just must say thats its not my cup of tea. I would go with Ferry

Posted by Special K on Feb-15-2004 20:45:

digweed

corsten is boring and always plays the same shit...the same cheesey shit that is...

Posted by Kytracid on Feb-15-2004 20:50:

Yes Yes, please go see Ferry....

that way there'll be more room in the KH where a certain Mr Digweed will be stealing the show.

Corsten hasn't evolved his style in the last 3 years, and quite frankly, it's all becomming a little stale and oh-dare-i-say-it ... predictable.

I'd rather be put to sleep by Diggers then have my ears bleed to 20 epic tracks played back to back in a set that has absolutely no form or structure. Corstens an animated DJ alright, and to his credit he seems to be enjoying his own music and appears on most occasions to have fun behind the decks, but let's face it. The music in his box is of the cheezy variety, it about as fresh as blue cheeze and as far as building a set...what set? what build? every track is epic, every track builds, then falls, then is followed by the same type of track...it's 3 hours of 140 bpm all going absolutely nowhere.

Oh, and don't bother telling me i'm all prog and hate trace. The love affair started with a certain Mr PVD, and continues with men like J00F and James Holden. At least Tiesto realizes the importance of deviating from a brand of sound that's been stagnating for a while now. Corsten on the other hand has been playing it safe...having seen him 4 times now, i've definately had enough.

In any case, i'm sure both sets of fans will enjoy the show. The one's in KH however will walk away with the bigger smile. ( minus ear bleeding...)

if by not doing much you mean scoring music for tv shows/movies, owning and operating record labels and selling out shows the world over then yea id have to agree with that comment...

BOTH EVENTS are gonna be crazy. My suggestion for your problem is ... go into the GUV first and get a wrist band. Chill and listen to Corsten for a bit and hop over to the Kool Haus. From here you can really decide where you wanna be for th erest of the night.

Now which room will have more TAs ? Let the battle begin ... TRANCE vs PROG <---- like back in days

Regardless which room your gonna be in ... ENJOY & JUST HAVE FUN![/b]

Trance vs. Prog

Wow!
Guys I did not mean to start a War or Trance vs. Prog Feud!

So let me get this right and excuse my newbieness.
Corsten is stright up Trance and Digweed is progressive (house or trance?)
. I know I bought Digweed Soundtrack from the Movie "Stark Raving Mad"
and it's alright but from what I have heard so far from al you TA"s is 8/10 check out Ferry.
I am DL some right now to check out
Any more suggestion.
As well... John can you actually club hop from GUV to KH or do you have to pay again?

YEAH MON! A lot of ppl are doing it, just get a wrist band and it will gain access to both areas. I'll post up the cost of the wrist band soon.

IMO, it won't be much ... 15.00 maybe.

Wrist Band

Thanks brother!
Nice to see you do so Much for so Little!

Posted by DeE420 on Feb-15-2004 21:26:

FERRY. thats all you need know.

Posted by Rocco on Feb-15-2004 21:26:

hahaha the politics of dancing hard at work...

i would get the wrist band. I don't like being restricted to only one DJ if i an listen to two great talents.

I think you might enjoy ferry more. ferry is great for entry level EDM-lovers. I know that several years ago the magic that is Digweed would have been lost on me. Ferry has fun track selection. I think a lot of his productions are great in that they have a lot of mainstream appeal, I could def. see 'rock your body' being played at a hockey game or on a commercial.

I have seen ferry many times, except for the Guv 6 year where he blew, he's usually decent. Try checking out Digweed when your tastes evolve and you can appreciate his technical skills and programming more.

Yeah......what she said

Or you could put it simply -

If you like PROG and think trance is CHEESE - Digweed.
If you like TRANCE and think prog is BORING - Corsten.

agreed. and if you are open-minded and you like both- wristband.

I like BOTH prog and trance, but for me there will be no wristband.

For me, digweed is a genius there is no comparrison. no offense to ferry but he is no trance GOD - PVD is a TRANCE GOD.

Altho their sounds are not similar, IMO PVD and Digweed are more similar- they both take you on a journey w/ amazing programming and they both have top notch technical skills.

Hehehe,

actually this was my interpretation of her post :

If you are new to the clubbing scene choose the safe, commercially played out sounds of Corsten.

When your musical taste 'evolves' or you get tired of ferries music (which ever comes first) try listening to something a little more refined, and find out why Digweed is the Master of his craft.

Ferry Corsten is an average DJ at the end of the day who got big on the success of his collaborations with tiesto (Gouryella) and the world wide appeal of trance back in 1999-2000. His productions are a good indicator of his style. Unoriginal and uninspiring.

Posted by TrickDaddE on Feb-15-2004 21:40:

Thanks

Nice you both should work for Clarica!

Posted by E2EK1EL on Feb-15-2004 21:41:

LOL TRANCE VS PROG WAR IS PLAYED OUT

Just have fun that night and enjoy yourself

I like prog more than trance, but between the two I'd choose ferry. I can't stand diggers and sasha type of prog zzz

only lawler kindof prog is real

Lawler's started spinning prog ? Since when ? I'd say he's more tribal with generous doses of house then anything else.
