What kind of music is played on the radio in your area?

I know here in houston we have more top 40 ghetto fab rap stations than we know what to do with. We are the 4th largest city in the United States and CRIMINALY we still have no dance music radio station.

I kind of miss it too. not much of dance music here either, maybe a little, but not much to say 'hey' for... it's too bad.
The only music i hear on the radio is jennifer Lopez, Backyard babies, Atomic Kitten whatever... makes me wanna kill myself
Have like 7-8 popular stations here and none of them plays good music at all.

Don't know why they don't play that kind of music on the radio, maybe it's not as popular as the other genres? Well, it's sad anyway...

CRAP!! No dancemusic hardly at all, ever!! Sucks...luckily I can turn to the nice people at ETS-Global for helpt

Posted by TheKidsWantTechno on Feb-16-2004 14:37:

guess how much EDM we hear on the radios in ATLANTA (the hip-hop capital of the world)....

Although sometimes on a friday or saturday night, you can hear a live "set" from one of the clubs in town, where the dj feels he can play get low in the same hour as ATRC...

oh, did i forget to mention the complete over-saturation of country music??

Posted by tdurden on Feb-16-2004 14:47:

No dance music stations whatsoever Mostly top 40 crap, C&W, classic rock, and what I call "elevator music".

there used to a station here in Austin that played cheese dance (better than nothing) but they changed there format to playing rap/hip-hop.

Here in Lexington, KY the college station[UK] plays some weird EDM from like Japan among other places for like 2 hours a day then punk the rest of the time

nothing but shit, top 40's, etc...

Everything when i'm in toronto. We have our share of good trance stations but late at night. When i'm at school its rap and country (i hate the mid-west)

I think I should call up ID&T and get them to setup shop here as a franchise

When I lived in Buffalo we got some Toronto radio stations.. there was one, 100.7 that used to have the "Global Groove Network" on after 1AM... in the daytime it was like a Spanish language talk radio station. But at night, this station played a lot of funky house and progressive house, and a bit of trance. In Long Island, not only do we have our own shitty pop/r&b/rcok stations, but we also get ones from CT and NYC too, so it's like 3x as much bad music. There are some stations like party 105 that occasionally play "dance" music and even more rarely play fairly obscure (to the general public, not to us) songs. But hearing Burned With Desire or ATRC back to back with Beyoncee or Sean Paul some lame ass shit like that is frustrating.

Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B, Pop, Country, Classic Rock, Rock, Classical, Oldies, Easy Listening, National Public Radio...not a single dance station.

Here in miami we have Party 93.1 which is really good at night. They have all kinds of live broadcast from different clubs and on sundays we have GDJB . BUUUUUT it is really CHEESY during the day and they play the same dance crap all day. SUCKS. When the station first came out it was a pirated station and all they played was underground trance....Ahhh i miss those days.

Here we have two radio stations that play EDM all the time.
The kinda of EDM they play is different; a lot of cheese and house and some trance, progressive, techno.

I'd be happy if I got just a program like GDJB once a week on any station. The closest thing I got now is that shitty "Open House Party with John Garabedian" that broadcasts all over the country's pop radio stations.

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Feb-16-2004 19:26:

AHHH. Im so happy to have PARTY 93.1 LOL. Now i see where all you people are at. Good thing we dont really have country music around here. I think country music should be submitted to the military as a form of torture for spys.

In Northeast Ohio it's pretty much mainstream pop/rock/alt music..but at night, especially LATE, on 96.5 KISS FM turns into Club Kiss. Their advertisement is wicked; "tired of getting busted at underground raves? then just tune in to hear the same music". Not bad music, but not my first choice! Still worth a go for any of you in the area.

Posted by papadoc on Feb-16-2004 19:56:

The only thing here is The Weekend Party Mix on the local Christian FM station.
They have DJ's that spin techno from 7:00pm to 5:00am on Friday night.
If you like techno, it's ok.
Other than that, there's nothing worth listening to on the radio.

Posted by Wavey on Feb-16-2004 20:40:

Just shitty hip-hop/rap and that so called pop... ewww but like I gave up radio long time ago.

Posted by ambrus07 on Feb-16-2004 20:52:

Well in Louisville KY there are no listenable stations for EDM, unless you happen to tune into UofL radio when one of my friends or some random house Dj is spinning. This happens max 1x a week at unannounced times.

There are electronic music venues but never trance.. i know a couple house Djs in the area. No other TAs in the city that i know of...

same here, but surprisingly i heard ATRC at best buy. only thing is i prefer: Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B, Pop, Country, Classic Rock, Rock, Classical, Oldies, and Easy Listening over this mind-numbing tune
