Barber's Adagio for strings(Ian Vennes Remix)

Should I finish it up ? I really want this one on CD (personal copy for spinning, not on a label or anything), and I would like to share it with everybody if that's legal. But damn this is so hard to tweak . I don't know if I can save this one at the moment

Here's a cut from the track, please let me know how you feel about the song, would love to hear what you think of it so far !

CHECK MY LAST POST IN THIS THREAD FOR LATEST REFRESHING SAMPLE !

I guess, you had a good idea, but try to ease up on the postproduction. It would be a good mix, you just have to mix properly (eq, compression, effects...)

Posted by M1cro5lave on Feb-17-2004 07:48:

Still needs some serious mixing into it... sounds very chaotic for the moment.

Posted by hey cheggy on Feb-17-2004 07:52:

It's weird, I can't tell the difference between each channel. Maybe it has been overcompressed. Either way, it makes it difficult to listen to when there is such a lack of dynamics.

Sounds like you've got the right idea though. Maybe if you could fix it up then repost it.

Posted by BelgianGuru on Feb-17-2004 09:43:

Wow I listened to it again this morning, I'm almost ashamed, almost though, not yet

I'll update it with a fresher version. Thank you for your input, the next update will be far better, I hope

BTW : Is it ok for a remix to take a part from the original as an intro ? I just totally love the strings, is it ok to use it just intro-wise ?

Oh Microslave, I'm sorry, I just noticed I raped your favourite track of the moment

Sample :

DOWNLOAD

Please let me know what you think of it.

Also for the really friendly people : At the end I add an arpeggio .. from hell or something. Was just wondering if it sounds ok or not. It will not just bump in like it does now, it will kick in with some nasty special effect, so let me know !

Cheers

Cool

the synth sounds a bit mental for the rest of the break atm hehe

uhh... sounds a bit mechanical

is there no beats or anything?

Posted by BelgianGuru on Feb-17-2004 17:31:

Of course there are, but not in that part A bit mechanical huh ? I'll try to fix that, but I'm trying to make it MY remix, and not the same as the ferry corsten and other remixes, I'm already thinking of removing the strings to make it less original. But then again it's a nice opening for a mix

Posted by Djeebie on Feb-17-2004 18:21:

Well, it's definitely different than the standard strings stuff I don't know, I think I can give a better opinion when you add the beats and percussion to it. I really think this has potential, but the sounds are too 'raw' for me.

Am I wrong or is Tisto's remix the inspiration for your version

Posted by BelgianGuru on Feb-17-2004 18:23:

Yeah, it's the only one I heared (shame on me ? ). How can you tell lol ? And thank you for the kind words, keeps me motivated

Posted by Darkone55 on Feb-17-2004 18:40:

That's funny, I'm also working on a remix of this track.

But about the track. Hmm, it sounds a bit strange, the synths. I don't like it very much, sorry.

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-17-2004 18:57:

Those synths are really harsh sounding for my liking, and there's this weird buzzing out of the right ear that happens every 2-3 seconds or so. I dunno, it sounds really overcompressed or something and that main sound could really have a lot more low end to it IMO.

Sorry. I really don't like it. The original ferry corsten remix is such a beauty...

Posted by BelgianGuru on Feb-17-2004 20:24:

I have no clue about the buzzing sound...
There is no compression used, except on the main synth so far I think, so dunno. But it seems to me you are all listening to this with headphones ? I'm not aiming for a multiplatform release or anything, just a mean speaker trasher
I can understand how you would dislike the synths though, tastes differ !

Here is a new UPDATE with a kick, and a fatter lead (I hoep it's a bit fatter for the headphones now )

CHECK MY LATEST POST FOR UPDATES

Oh yes, beware, the first part is oversilent in comparison with the synths etc.. have to fix that too

Yeah the original is sweet as hell, never heared ferry's one, but that Tiesto thing is so damn sweet (he remixed it of course).

Posted by EternalMusic on Feb-17-2004 20:35:

I like it till 0:40... though i think the pads could be better. Anyway, the lead is horrible. Please change it

nothing more to say

Posted by BelgianGuru on Feb-17-2004 21:16:

Exactly what is horrinle about the lead lol ? Do you mean YOU don't like it, or is the produced sound horrible .. production wise ?

Posted by _Marco_ on Feb-17-2004 22:22:

yeah the lead is scary and i think it really sounds wrong
the first part is nice though

Posted by RenderedDream on Feb-18-2004 01:19:

this would be perfect for a hardtrance tune!
try to put in harder kicks

Posted by BelgianGuru on Feb-18-2004 07:41:

Alright, so I listened to it again this morning, seemed like the lead was just too loud in comparison with the rest of the track. SO of course ANOTHER UPDATE I changed the lead a little bit (a lot). So please keep the comments coming !

Hope you all enjoy it a little bit this time
