Read This! DJ Dawn's Hardtrance History ID Contest Pt. II - ID and win!

Hi fellow TAs!
It's time for the second ID contest. I modified the rules, so this time we should have a winner for sure. Last time I asked for 10 correct IDs, which was a bit much.
This time, the person who gets the most correct IDs wins a CD with 5 of my mixes in 192k + cue-files !

Now, the mix is here: http://www.djdawn.de/muzik/
The mix contains 36 tracks from 1993-1998

When you think you can ID a track, do NOT post the ID here!
Instead, send an e-mail to [email protected] with the ID and the minute/second you found it.
I will post your name with the number of correct IDs here in this thread. Contest will be going for at least 2 weeks.

That's it. Have fun and good luck!!!

GOOD MORNING GENTLEMEN!

Damn, you said this one was gonna be easier!
IT ISN'T!

I'm f*cked.
I'll probably lose this one.

well, it seems to be easier, since Mister AlienFactory got
7 (seven) correct IDs! Good job!

But I hope the others will still join the competition...it's quite possible to get more than 7...

I'm waiting...oh and if you just want to leave a comment on the mix, throw it in here as well, even if you can't ID a single tune

Ehmm...
Am I the only one participating, or what?
Because, in that case this is gonna be very easy!

Is everybody afraid of these ID pros?
I don't get it why 30 people click the link and only 3 bother to dl. The speed is really fast and I thought all the TAs were always interested in getting new mixes...and there are a lot of Hard-Trance fans as well
Don't let [A] take it so easily

Yeah. Seriously, it's a good DL speed and the mix itself is great.
It's a good look back in time and what trance sounded like then.
Show some respect. He's a Loveparade DJ after all (Proof).

Or maybe the most TA's are fresh TA's ?
(There are tracks from 1997 on that mix actually!
Maybe even 1998.)
Don't let the high BPM scare you, it's not all from 1994.

Any Rave Mission or Ravermeister CDs older than 1998 could be a great help for this.

Second place isn't that bad either! Maybe we can negotiate with Dawn for a price to the second place too. (Like sending 1 mix over ICQ, or something.)

Good Luck!

Make a Lower bitrate for us modem b*stards and ill have a go

Posted by djdawn on Aug-11-2001 09:18:

bitrate

sorry, how am I supposed to post a 95 minute mix for those with modems? It already is 128k , cause I only have 100 meg webspace. I think it supports resume, but that would still make it a pretty long dl with modem.
Sorry again.

Posted by patticus on Aug-11-2001 09:49:

hey, can you please post a tracklist for this mix

Posted by djdawn on Aug-11-2001 11:25:

that's a joke, right???
It is an ID contest! How can I post a tracklist when I ask people to ID the tracks???

Of course, I will post a tracklist when the contest is over (just like last time), which will be Saturday next week.

Posted by patticus on Aug-11-2001 11:54:

Thanks alot! This mix was completely done with vinyl.

OOOOHHHHH my GAAAAAAWD , I didn't expect this....it has happened......from out of nowhere,

ArtcoreDNA entered the contest.

and he got some correct IDs.

He got....

19 (!)

unbelievable, yet true. All artists and tracknames correct, sometimes even the correct Mix.

Oh well, there is still room to beat him, cause there are 17 tracks he didn't get.

Posted by [A|ienFactory] on Aug-12-2001 13:15:

Who the hell is ArtcoreDNA??

Posted by djdawn on Aug-12-2001 14:18:

he's not a frequent TA user, but has registered in March...

look here:
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...nfo&userid=1844

I was REALLY surprised to get his ID list.

Can you beat that??? I think it's almost impossible, he seems to have the same taste in Music and must be around my age, for he also was at Mayday '94

Hehe,

hello guys,

ok, I found 19 Tracks without having to listen to my own CD's or searching for tracks. I didn't know 2-5 songs, wich I never heard before. I think I would identify about 80-85% of those tracks with a little work - but I have no time!

Hey Dawn, you forgot that the style of your oldschool-trance-mix is more the "Hamburg-Style", some songs have been popular only in Hamburg... ask someone out of Munich for DJ Mellow D two years ago... nobody knew him, I think so!

OK, i think the Nickname "ArtcoreDNA" is bullsh***, I will ask Swamper if he can change it... ArtcoreDNA is my old nickname in the Ruffneck-Forums... I even listened to Hardcore-Music since 1993 and Ruffneck/Gangsta were one of my favorite Harcore-Labels.

Outta here...

Greets,

Artcore aka Stefan

ohh, I didn't think it is too "Hamburg-ish". There are lots of tracks that DJs like Carl Cox, Westbam, Marusha, Gary D, Dano and others played back then.
If the mix was all Tunnel Rec., EDM Rec., Full E Rec. and stuff like this I would say the sound is too local. But there are British, Dutch and other tracks as well.

But Artcore seems to have a strong local advantage however. So the runner-up will be treated as a winner , aight?

Posted by AndiH on Aug-12-2001 18:09:

ok...I d/l'ed the mix...it's amazing...I know some of the tracks but there's no way to get 20 id's ...congrats artcore

Posted by [A|ienFactory] on Aug-12-2001 20:39:

I suck.

^^^^ Hello??? Did you read this:

If you end up second place, I will treat you as if you won! You don't suck. You got the most IDs last time and got even more this time. That's pretty impressive!

So, if Andi decides to send a list, maybe it will be between you and him. But right now you are second place...
