-- legal alias?
legal alias?
hi all
i me and my production partner have been using the name Libra. for two years now.(if you know our b-days you know why we picked it)
i just realised yesterday talking to someone on online that BT used the name only once for Libra presents Tyler-anamoly.
My question is can we still legally use the name?
i think ill be heartbroken if i have to change it
bt also used it on the Dreaming remix (and maybe one or two others)--i think there may also be other artists with that name as well...
shit
but wasn't that a remix name, is that considered a offical name that is trademarked, because if so nobody else can use that name. and your saying others are using it too?
i dont get the whole remix, callobration name thing in trance, there are producers and dj's with a gizzlion names ex Ferry corsten etc..
does that mean noone can use any of those aliases?
I don't think so because on Discogs there is often more than one artist with the same name (not just stupid dupilcates) that are actually different people.
One example I can think of right now Ultra who did the track Free (not very good but sort of cluby trance) and now Agnelli and Nelson are released Holding onto Nothing under that name so who knows.
To have a name "trademarked" you have to register it ...i did it with elevation...something like Project Libra?? would be ok but since Libra is used by BT and is technically copyrighted (those are so complicated btw) you could get sued for money... theres names out there ... you just gotta find em :-P
yeah i hear ya man, i'm working w/ a mate, and his last name is Smith... i really don't want him being confused with Smith from anjuna beats, so this name game is a complicated thing.
