technics service
Having Problems with my one turntables. Anyone know a good (hopefully inexpensive) place in Sydney to get my Technic turntable serviced?
problem with quartz lock?
What's the issue? [Maybe we can fix it w/o a service]
I've got both my dex ATM in @ DMC getting serviced, a general service is about $90 a deck and takes 10 buisness days FYI...(they send it to a guy called "george")

DMC Lighting and Sound for sure.. no rival
they are on elizabeth street
Bought my tt second hand so im not sure how old it is. The problem is , is that its lost its sensitivity (if that makes sense) I need to put alot of pressure on the vinyl when cueing it etc.
Dont know if this is something that can be fixed or if its just because the deck is old.
You mean that the slipmat is too grippy?
You can buy new slipmats at any record shop, or for a cheaper alternative, use your slipmat as a template to cut out two from a reasonably stiff plastic shopping bag (like the ones you get from central station when you buy records)
put those under the slipmat and see if it's slipping well for you again.
otherwise, we'll need a better description of the problem to help
Nothing to do with the slipmats.
The platter has lost its sensitivity.
do you mean the torque of the platter?
Its controlled by a magnet, they dont exactly wear out?
Or maybe give it some oil?
lol, yer, otherwise, the description is pretty vague in text.
speak to anomyst about it... i hear you have to send them overseas to england to be repaired... or i could be wrong
your wrong, again.
maybe yes maybe no.... most likely no

)...you hold down a track, but to keep it from moving you're now having to apply more pressure, or less? (maybe the motor that spins the magnet is dying?)

(maybe the motor that spins the magnet is dying?)DMC Is the place to go if it's something like that. If it's just a pitch based issue (IE the dots), I'll post links for fixes ![]() --djway |

| Originally posted by nixter Its impossible to try and describe whats going on, especially since i dont know all the technical terms for things. Im pretty useless when it comes to this. So sorry all for my vague descriptions. When both tt are at 0 the dots are exactly the same on each. When i hold down a track i have to apply alot of pressure and when you let the record go (to get in time with the playing track,) gotta give it quite a push. So if it is the motor , is it something that can be serviced? I had a friend take it to someone a few months ago and they said there was nothing wrong with it. So im pretty confused. |
nix its definitly the motor... when we spin at your place i always have to give the left one a bigger push to sync with the other deck -its an old technics turntable and just like in an old car, the motor can lose its life and in the case of the turntables - struggle to keep the platter spinning. I doubt it is worth repairing (unless it has something to do with the amount of electrical power its receiving from the outlet source being insufficient) but my bet is on the age factor of the poor little turntable...
