Skiing anyone?
Anybody here ski by any chance? If so, how would you rate yourself?
I did almost 100km/h (62mp/h) on Atomic SL 11.12 Betarace Worldcup Slalom skies and 120km/h on GS 11.21's on the Lauberhorn at Wengen and the FIS piste in Davos
I like agressive carving, jumping and tricks but also just making chilly turns and enjoying the scenery...

i love skiing! i try and get out as often as i can. i only realy like skiing park and powder. i love hitting big jumps and i am gettin better at rails. i am just starting riding the pipe. does any one have advice for airing in the pipe? good topic!
I snowblade (they're like shorter skies)...but I suck and fall a lot but it's fun.
i tried downhill skiing. didnt work out too great for me. but i tried cross country skiing after that and loved it. cant wait to do it again!
Skiing sucks...no offence
but snowboarding is so much better
. I suck at it but I think its the best winter sport ever

I know how to ski and snowboard, but i actually never got that sense of satisfaction in learning how to master it; but knowing that you can vastly increase your skills and rise above the many many many thousands of mediocre, average, and even skilled skiiers to become truly good and respectable makes the sense of satisfaction in skiing just as powerful so to speak 2. i dunno, have you seen my new tecnicas?? 3. this isnt an issue for me |
Meh..Everyone has their own loose bolts.

I just got back from 5 days of skiing in Fernie!
259cm base Muahahahaha
For those of you ragging on skiing you're morons. Each has its own advantages, skis generally have better handling in tight and run slightly faster, boards are much better in powder and deep snow. Boards suck ass on moguls and on flat regions.
your a hypocrite

i skied for the first time this winter and i took quite a few nasty spills i would say. though my girlfriends friend took us on the intermediate slope and so it was excusable why i fell so much. boy was it fun! is it me or are people more friendly to you on the slope?
I just got back from steamboat colorado, and in all honestly it was pretty fucking awesome!
btw the only edge snowboarding has over skiing is trick potentional. Because snowboards have a larger surface area, there is more friction hence snowboards go slower.

At least someone is on my side, however in light of that this thread is about skiing, it is understandale that more people in here prefer it. I think if we had a survey or a poll then more people would choose snowboarding.
i play ski free still.
ive done both!!! although im better at skiing! ive only tried snowboarding once! ITS SO DIFFICULT!!!!! but skiing is so much easier imo!! im gonna learn to snowboard though i find it more interesting :P

starting off on a snowboard is harder, but after 3-4 days it's all pretty easy. Skiing isn't so hard to begin with but takes forever to master. I could carve turns on day 2 on a snowboard, it takes a lot longer to carve skis. Unless you're on those nice new super sidecut thingies. Kind of wish I could accidentally break my skis so I'd have an excuse to buy new ones. I feel like such a dinasour on my 205's, but they is still nice and fast.
snowboarding to me is like playing street hockey vs ice. Can be fun to muck around, but it's not the real thing and cannot be taken seriously.
The one thing that pisses me off about snowboarders is the idiots who think nothing of taking massive heelside turns that go the width of the trail. Sure it's your responsibility to pass people downhill safely, but for one person to take a whole trail, you deserve to get run over.

I just got a new pair of Salomon 180cm X-screams this past season. Haven't had much of an opportunity to break them in though. I was planning on heading out to Colorado but couldn't take off a week from work. So I did a bunch of shit trips up to Killington VT. Anyway, I like to spend the first day fine-tuning and improving my form as much as I can. The second day and typically the rest of the time I'm on the slopes, I usually try to hit up the terrain parks until my legs are hurting. I was in piss-poor shape this season. Oh well, better luck next year.
