Why do you think there is such a lack of interest for the rave scene in the states?
As you all can see with the current cancellations of (EX: Creamfields Las Vegas and New York) what do you think the problem is with the states? Is it a lack of origination for the tours? Or just plan no love for the music? If thats the case I would be more than happy to take that job from someone to kick the scene back up, because right now were not looking to sharp is all I know. sure we have some good "spots" but nothing to brag about at the moment.
i think (around here anyway) its because ppl cant get away from rap/hip hop, which is kind of dance music too (its true even though i hate it)
but i think it might be starting to grow a little. for example, my parents are subscribed to Colubia House (music club) and i sometimes look at the magazines, and i noticed that they actually now have a section for trance, or electronic, which they have never had before. just small things
but i think when the huge rap/hip hop craze slows down, people will begin to notice it abit more
of course that may all be bullshjit, but thats what i think

We live in a world of hip hop/R&B and gangsta rap.....it seems like all the young kiddies are into that stuff.....that's fine every one dances to a different beat.......if we over here ever want to experience a true trance nation we'll have to save out pennies and head over to holland to party..........

Yeah Wilson I understand what you mean by the "little things" As for around here the little things are the small group of people who love the music. Untill all the rap/hip hop crap dies down and people get off the 'thug bandwagon' (which I dont see happening anytime soon) 
thats when they will start listing to trance and say "hey look at this new musik" not knowing its been around forever heh...
but yeah i hope you understand what i mean. 
i think at least a bit of the problem is that trance isnt american... ur population is sooo hung up on american music, country, r&b, hip-hop etc... because there arnt that many american artists (and the few there are never get heard by the general population) no-one listens to it..
also (this doesnt apply to all of u.. no the ones reading this neways) americans have this tendancy to practice sheepism... gearoge w (for WANKER) bush says electronic music is bad and encourages drugz... america thinks electronic music is bad and encourages drugs...
there is no trance scene because of TRL. the only music that makes it big in the US is music that idiotic pris-pants fad-chasing "wanna be cool" girls see on TV. EVERY girl was into pop music. now ever since Incubis came out, EVERY girl "has always been a roadie in their heart" and a "long time rocker." If ONLY 1 trance song made it on TRL, as a WORLD PREMIERE or whatever, then suddenly EVERY idiotic pris-pants fad-chasing "wanna be cool" girl would IN AN INSTANT say "o ya, me and raving go way back" "i've always been a dedicated trancer" and whatever. TRL leads music everywhere.

America is a country for fools with the attention spans of retarded goldfish. Things get popular when they are already commercialized...because in this country, if people aren't bombarded with advertisements, they don't really care.
The electronic music scene is not flashy enough(despite the numerous amounts of strobe lights 
), and way too misunderstood for it to gain any kind of a foothold. Hence the only people that usually go out are the morons who feel like getting fucked up, and give the scene a bad rap.
For instance, with hip hop. Hip Hop was HIP HOP about 10 years ago, I don't know what to call this gansta-white-boy peddled shit that is so popular today, but it doesn't deserve to be even in the same catagory as hip hop, hell it doesn't even deserve to be in the same catagory as SHIT. Yet, it's popular, why? Because it's commercial, it's no longer about art, it's about selling music.
I for one would love the scene to stay underground. I don't want these fucking retarded ass kids coming to ruin something else that I love(although they aleady have). I just wish for a little more intelligence, and unity in the American scene. Something that could be respected for what it is, and not because it has mass commercial appeal.
It's already happening, though, the commercialization. Companies capitalizing on "raver gear", and the far end of trashy trance compilations that deserve to be defectated upon...
To sum it all up...American's (for the most part, like someone said, if you are reading this, you're okay in my book ) like being goldfish, and they love things for MASS audiences. Let's face it folks, American society would never allow for the kind of exposure we want...without distorting it to benefit someone else. And that, my friends, we do not want.

I think the rave scence has been way to stereotyped and associated with drugs that it scarces most people into the scene. The media and government tries so hard to make us think: raves = drugs = deaths
Besides when the public ever hears about electronic music what do they hear? Some cracked out raver yelling about how great the scene is, how much there is love (***ing PLUR), while all the time they're wearing a pink fuzzy visor, size XXXL UFOs, and power puff girls apparel. Or a local "rave" getting busted because two people died. Our scene gets the short end of the stick soo often, that that's what we look like to most people. Stupid under-matured kids, and I know that they only represent about 20% of the scene.
I don't mind the ravers, they built the larger following, but not all of them are great spokes-persons for the community. (Even though it's funny to see them on TV )
I'm just venting here, sorry. Basically we are years behind Europe. Until we get the stereotypes off the scene, we will always be in the shadows of Pop, rap, etc.

All of us intelligent, bitter, US kids, should take over a third world country, and make it our party country.
Why wont trance make it big in N.am? Well somebody in some other thread raised a good point. europe is densely populated. Canada and US are not. Youve got packed coastal areas, and nothing much in between. But all this nothing adds up to half baked small events that people simply cant come to!
It would take something close to 40 hours to drive across our country. In 40 hours in europe, u can drive 15 hours, party and drive home agian!!! Trance requires people. And IMO thats why it will only flourish on the coasts(ie, NYC, Miami, LA, San Fran) and the larger Canadian cities.
the only way trance will flouish here is if it get major exposure on the music channels...
but then you get all the little 'wannabies' and the like...
and quite frankly, if that's what's going to happen to trance... i'd rather not, it's better if it stays underground and not oversaturated with cheese to please the masses
all that makes a lot of sense, but ive got another one: trance n stuff didnt "grow up" over there in the states, it grew up in Europe, over here, it got mature, while in the US iz not, and u cant tread a grown up like a lill child, plus over there, u didnt get the time to "bind (Dutch expression, binden with smth, couldnt get the right english word )", like a child binds with his parents while growing up... dunno if this all makes sense, but i hope it does
One thing is for sure, trance musik and the whole rave culture does not need 'flashy advertisment' to help it out. we all discovered this musik one way or another, therefor it would be better just to leave it 'underground' and let only the choice intelligent listeners discover the musik as well. I personally say "fu*k the goverment, fu*k the media, and fu*k every wannabe who sterotypes the whole 'scene'" havok118 had the best idea of them all and I personally would help take over any 3rd world country and make it a party country. any ideas for a name let me know heh...

I think the problem has do alot with exposure. All the other points hold truth as well but, in europe these events are even broadcasted on television. Here, if u are not on a forum or keep up to date, u could easily miss the event. Perhaps more exposure would make it easier for these events to fill up.
what ever happened to that Raymond guy on MTV? During that Oakenfold special, didn't he say "watch out for MTV events like this in the summer" ??? i really thought he was gonna be a pionier (sp?) of trance to mainstream.

lol, i had a conversation in a PacSun store with one of the workers while I was shopping for clothes . They were playing rap (omg!! aaahhhhhh!!!
) and me and my friend were making fun of it the whole time..and the worker got mad and said 'i listen to music for the words, not the beat and stuff'...i just about rolled over from laughing my damn ass off, because she is to caught up in the media bull shit....lol!!!! damn, america is bein flushed in a toilet along with the shit the media has provided..
Yeap, it's all about the Herd instinct, and the fact that US is the country of superficiality. Pop, hip hop, way easier to "feed the brutes" with these things. It's true that about raves it's said they bring violence and ravers take drugs and shit (reply by QuickStep), but this isn't the main cause (well, it's been said 'bout rappers they induce violence; but I don't think Snoop is goin' to have so many concerts canceled or ppl will stop goin' b/c of that)
maybe...trance is harder to understand. And as (most) americans are superficial, they will not take the time to understand it.
Something similar happens here in Mexico there is just too much pop around same goes to hip/hop and stuff, nothing much to do here..'xcept to wait 'till the next underground party pops up or else the big parties at big cities where you spend lot$$$$.
I think the trance/electronica scene in America will get worse before it gets better. Rap/HipHop music continues to grow in popularity here. Its probably best this way too as Shockwav and Havok said. Americans have a way of taking good music and fubarng it up...
Umm....I think the government has a lot to do with these cancellations. It costs ten times more nowadays to put on an event due to legislation and other preventative measures promoters must deal with. With these higher costs, ticket prices go up and so does the number of people needed to break even. Most promoters are okay with loosing money sometimes, but not hundreds of thousands of dollars which is probably partly why the bigger parties are being cancelled more often nowadays.
