State of Matter - Sapphire (2k4 Update)

Completely redid this one from scratch because I loved the melody but hated the production quality. As it says in the description, cleaner sounds, better eq, pretty much a complete revamp of the original. Hoping to shop this one around, already potential big name remixes.

Feedback appreciated.

Edit: Should add that im also doing a progressive remix of this under my new Shadowdance alias with pianos and flutes and the like. Have many ideas so far, should be done by the end of the week.

Production level is WAY better than the original version, which I liked anyways despite the flaws. This is really good! Powerful as fuck with solid production and awesome melody. This will almost certainly get signed IMO, great job.

Cheers EM.

good stuff.

i really liked the original, despite it's slightly amateurish sound..

this new version is really good as well, definitely sounds more professional. thing is, you have all these great elements, but overall it's rather chaotic. this could be due the mp3 quality, but your track is pretty 'busy'..

but as i said, i may be completely wrong.

Thanks for the feedback Really appreciated.

The chaos is due to the low quality mp3, its much cleaner and clearer at 192.

Thanks for all of the emails and private messages as well.

Take it easy.

This sounds fantastic - so powerful, clear and full sounding. Melody is fantastic too!

this is beautiful! i love that melody!
i agree with TOR on the 'business', so that makes me wanne hear the 192kbit version

Cons:

It's sounds blury on my monitors. Cause is probably the reverb. The compressor(s) are not promoting the track very well. It sounds too pumping.

Pros:

The midi sequencing is great. This song has potential.

Posted by State of Matter on Feb-25-2004 21:59:

As I said, the blurriness comes from the 112kbps mp3 compression. At 192 its crystal.

I really love this! the melody is amazing. as u sed its a bit busy at 112kpbs, wud be good to hear it at 192! good work mate, keep it up!

Thanks guys!

I reworked it some. I added more sub bass today, at Luke's request, and made the secondary bassline roll a little more like a Hiver&Hammer bassline. I completely redid the second half of the track, now there's a break inbetween the first and second breakdown so the melody doesnt grow old, and the second break is more like the original in terms of structure. Lastly the percs roll a little smoother, with clearer cymbal rides.

I haven't updated the sample yet, but I plan to. ATM working out which labels to send to. Wish me luck.

Chris.
