BIO:

Taken-in by punk, graffiti, design, and different forms of electronic music, the Virginian has lived a creative youth. From playing in bands and being surrounded by a strong musical family (his father still performs), his ears are excelled when it comes to hearing an original sound. Barada is one of the few 'performing' artists of the house genre. His live sets bend the original versions to a harder edge. Each show is treated similiar to a DJ set, custom-writing and adapting his songs for the live situation. 1996 arose many live shows for Barada, taking him throughout North America and the UK. In August, he performed live overseas at The End in London and at The Arches in Glasgow.
Even though his surrounding community of Norfolk, Virginia doesn't offer a thriving music scene for reflection, Barada enjoy's being withdrawn. The softspoken Zentz say's, "You can concentrate on your own thing." The album enlightens Bryan's production talents in a genre (house) that is rarely captured by a full-length format. 'Strategies...' tells a story, in an un-comprimised, conceptual way. "The tracks I write have to fit into a puzzle that I've created for myself."

Bryan has been performing since the age of 16. Firstly with hardcore bands, playing with alot of different styles and players. This lead into hip-hop avenues, as far as writing goes. Toying with the beat and bassline versus singing and strumming. After these changes, he walked down more industrial alleys which connected his devlopment towards electronic music. From an early love (still tuned-in today) with deep house, he found other roots of electronica as influence. Devo, Kraftwerk, Inner City, Cabaret Voltaire, Skinny Puppy, Eric B & Rakim, Basic Channel, Rob Hood, and Jeff Mills- they've all held Bryan's ears closely at one time or another.

Barada is a name acquired from a Star Wars character, which was adapted by George Lucas from the fifties sci-fi classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still". He used it first as a graffiti tag. The look and sound of movies has had it's influence on Bryan's music as well as his visual creations. Fluent in graphic design, Bryan focuses more on illustration than the usual 'computer' look typically associated with electronic music. Graffiti has affected his use of typography, giving text more flow and create "movement". Obviously the effect of movement has influenced more than the visual side of Barada. Watch out for his slamming productions on Tronic Music.
