Love Poundin' Sensation I need a song that has lyrics about a "social problem", please help me out!

I have to write a report for my social problems class about the lyrics of a song that are about a social problem, ie.drugs,crime,poverty,etc. I want to use a trance song, but I really cant find any. I have also listened through alot of other songs and I came up with Andain-beautiful things which is to me about suicide, but it doesnt come out and say it. Other than that I have the black eyed peas and good charlotte song-hold on, which are two much more blatant songs. I want a trance song though, so please help. I will take other suggestions.

Thanks alot in advance guys.

SUICIDE

Have you ever thougt about committing suicide?
Leaving the world behind?

The sorrow, the pain and the fear
Of the unknown future

delivering from any human needs and pressure
in just one second

your cry for help is lost in this lonely world
in which you are completely alone

nobody helps you when you`re feeling down
and the loneliness is breaking your heart

it would be so simple to go down
the stairs of the final way

but the fear of the unknown world beyond,
of having nothing, of being nothing

keeps you on your designated way
and takes away your longing for self-destruction

that is why
you will never commit suicide

do you have the lyrics for pqm - you are sleeping, and I would use as the rush comes but it never really comes out and says in the lyrics"drugs are bad" "they do this and that" , it more implies.

Dude I have the best track for you... and also the video is badass!!!
It might give people the wrong impression of electronic music though.

Kai Tracid - Too Many Times (Energy Mix)

Too many times you have been high
Too many times you ran away, no need to cry
Too many times your body lies awake
Too many times these pills you take

Too many times you've woken up depressed
Too many times you put your life to the test
Too many times you've taken this trip
Too many times... you have slipped

Too many times your body can't take
Too many times you made a mistake
Too many times you haven't realized
Too many times your mind became paralyzed

In case you have trouble telling, it's about people that pop pills and do drugs every weekend when they go to clubs and eventually it catches up to them. Watch the video to understand.

The video for this song is badass too and you'd be totally able to show it. One of the better trance vids.

EDIT: That's cool you know Khalil Gibran, unreal philosopher and poet. Sand and Foam is incredibly deep.

Here is
PQM - You Are Sleeping

you pick up this working girl
whos hooked on smack
who hustles and scores,
thats all i do she says
she says, "ten bucks for head"
fifteen for half 'n half, she says
3 hits a day, at 35 per
you say thats 7 tricks a day at least
but she says "sometimes I get lucky"
"once this guy gives me a bill and a half,
just to eat me, only time i ever came"
you figure you can save her
you sell your color tv,
that keeps her off the streets a whole day
you hock your typewriter for one joule,
then your shotgun, your watch..
a week later you say, "listen im a little short"
but she says "no scratch, no snatch"
you say "look it is better to give"
but she says "beat off creep"
one night they spot you on the street
in your skivvies, trying to sell your shoes
you tell 'em who you are, but they nail you
then she happens by and she says
"christ you look fucked."
she says "hang tough"
but you dont say anything.
you just think... what a bum rap
for a nice, sensitive guy like me.

Found by searching google, I claim no responsibility for any errors .

Yes it is you dipwad. Dave Dresden said so explicitly. Someone find that quote for me!

If you want a song about social issues, isn't there a song on PvD's Reflections that is supposedly about starving kids in India? Personally I think you could find much better songs to do it on since Reflections was a horrible pile of shit, but that's the first tune that came to mind.

As for PQM - You Are Sleeping, here are the lyrics as I have them:

quote:

you pick up this working girl, hooked on smack
"hustles and scores, thats all I do," she says
she says, "10 bucks for head, 15 for half & half"
she says "3 hits a day @ 35 per," you say "thats 7 tricks a day atleast"
she says "sometimes I get lucky. once this guy gives me a bill and a half just to eat me...only time I ever came"

you
are
sleep
ing

you figure you can save her
you sell your color TV and it keeps her off the streets a whole day
you hock your typewriter for one joe
then your shotgun, your watch
a week later you say "listen, I'm a little short"
but she says "no scratch, no snatch"
you say "look, it is better to give"
but she says "be gone, creep"

one night they spot you on the street in your skivvies trying to sell your shoes
you tell them who you are, but they fail you
then she happens bye and she says "christ, you look fucked"
she says "hang tough"
you don't say anything
you just think "what a bum rap for a nice, sensitive guy like me."

and here is my commentary on them...from another thread I made a while ago. Feel free to use it and expound on my theory :

quote:

well, I like it for both simplistic and more complex reasons. For me it's because it's like a sample from some 70's movie or something, and I just like stuff like that
plus I also like it just because of it's sheer strangeness and creepyness

But I also like it because it is the complete opposite of the song's sound and atmosphere, the way it is juxtaposed with the song is great: here you have this monolouge about such a horrible and disturbing and disheartening subject matter, but conversly, the song itself is very melow and fluffy sounding, very dreamy.
It also serves as sort of a social commentary, if you will. The title "you are sleeping" could figurativly refer to the fact that the protagonist in this little story is ignorantly blind to the truth of his situation, he is trying to save this girl who really doesnt give a shit and is going about it in all the wrong ways; he is alseep. Or, in a greater sense, society is asleep, choosing to overlook or ignore the horrible things that are going on every day, just down the street (ie, homeless and whoring yourself out for heroin).

there ya go

not quite as morbid as those, but

"Adam Freeland - We Want Your Soul" has a pretty fuckin cool theme about consumer manipulation.

I tried searching and can't find it but I remember when he said it. It was when G&D were on ASOT and they gave some BS about what it was about. Then someone started a thread saying wait I thought it was about drugs but they just said on the radio that it wasn't. TDave responds saying of course they are not going to say it is about drugs on a huge radio network and of course it is really about E.

While reflections does suck me left testicle there are some solid tunes on there (all of whic had been previously released ). I know PVD said in an interview that Time of Our Lives is about the Israel/Palestine conflict. A google search should bring up the lyrics but they are a little vauge and do not really come out and say people are blowing themselves up on buses and driving tanks through towns. I think there are other tracks on reflections that are more explicit but I don't know which because I don't have reflections for the reasons stated above.

This is solid, the original poster totally needs to use this (especially the end).

Because I should be doing homework but am trying hard to not do I got the Time of Our Lives lyrics off google.

There's a time for us to let go
There's a time for holding on
A time to speak, a time to listen
There's a time for us to grow

There's a time for laying low
There's a time for getting high
A time for peace, a time for fighting
A time to live, a time to die

A time to scream, a time for silence
A time for truth against the lie
A time for faith, a time for science
There's a time for us to shine

There's a time for mixed believing
There's a time to understand
A time for hurt, a time for healing
A time to run, and to make a stand

There is the times
Of our lives...
