How'd you get your professional name?
Just curious how all you DJ's out there got your professional names. Did someone give it to you, did you choose it yourself? Did you suddenly have some great awakening where this perfect name just popped into your head?
I havent chosen one yet, so for now i guess its just DJ KevinT.
But i think thats kind of boring, so i have been beating my head against the wall trying to think of something just right, but i got no ideas. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Kev
just sit down with some friends, make a list of 20-40 names and start kickin out those that obviously suck
When you got three or so left, pick one.
And don't think about it too much, there are some REALLY successful DJs with names that suck A**. Especially in Germany
Hope this helps...
I got my dj name from my teacher from school.. A wicked guy who always gave nicks to people. Mine was Cripsen, cuz my real name is crispen. Now im Dj Cripsen
good luck with the name
i got mine from the tv one day...
i was watching this rocket truck race, and it was called the "Shockwave" and i thought, wow, that's a cool name...
so to make it sort of individual, i dropped off the E and the end and now i'm Shockwav
well..mine came to me during a drunken stuppor...a friend said whats up j_spot and it stuck..I dont use it often tho...my shows are usually for underage crowds. so a name like j_spot(and my boss Deez Nuts) arent really appropriate. WE just used em @ college shows

Kev
That is really good DJTJ...but how did you get your name then? LOL
DJTJ, that's a wierd formula!!!!!
so my DJ Name should be Oren Van Kostoberg??

lol man that doesn't really make sense.........
oh well....
I use to go by "IceMan"...........but ive changed over times....
ive "evovled" I was watching TV and there was this club (i furgot where at) but it was called "Liquid" and i was like......damn......
im a totally different DJ from when i started........
LIQUID sounds like a DOpE dj name.......so i changed over.....u can say it was an evolution.......from Ice to LIQUID
Although I'd like to take the credit for it, that formula was in an issue of Mixmag!

if i ever became world famous dj.i'll chose the name dj phukdup.i think it's pretty cool name
mine is
554
what does it mean? its the number of letters in each of my names. how did i get it? pretty much what DJ Dawn said to do. I didn't want to run with just "DJ" because i wanted to produce as well and the prefix "DJ" i thought sounded too Playskool-ish... I wanted something that could be anything, something mysterious that no one knew what it was.... so voila!
Cheers!

my dj name came from the quote in my sig. it's printed on the inside cover of The Sun Also Rises by hemingway above his excerpt from Ecclesiastes. hemingway expounded on this in his book A Movable Feast and he talks about how everyone is lost in their own generation and such. and i kind of feel like when i go to parties and stuff it's just a bunch of lost people all coming together and becoming one and that's why i've been going as lost in the party scene for a few years and so when i tried my hand at djing it just kind of carried with me. i still can't beatmatch though so i'm not much of a dj!
lost
lol sounds a lot like me. LOST (i even did a song about it, haha)

i want to add that i think that a scene name must be sounds very good, but also when you see it. example, i think that DJ Pure is a fucking good trance dj name, Pure is a word that sounds good and it's a beautiful word. Pure is also like trance music... and the other example is the german dj Tillman Uhrmacher, blaaa, that suck a**. it's ugly !
