Buying MP3s in online shops like Yo****oshi
So it's finally here and I know that it has already been discussed in other threads, but I'm still not yet sure of this (yes I've searched).
- So if one of the big problems of the MP3s are the fact that most can be obtained illegally, how can you go to a club and prove that all your music was "paid" for? you'll show your e-mail receipts? please
- Also, Yoshitoshi is serving them @ 192kps, according to most of the people this will sound bad in big sound systems right? Then why is it that I'm almost sure that top DJs use it and no one notices? Is it just because they prolly run them on software "enhancers"?
I think it's a great idea and all, to have them on CD-R and pay tribute to the artist at the same time, but if 192kps aren't enough, than I guess I'll stick to vinyl as most DJs will. But can anyone help me out with these questions?
'Cos if this sticks I'm pretty sure everyone will sell at least one of their 1200s to swap for CDJs and the other one will be only for ripping onto cd in the long-term
(not intending to start another vinyl vs cd discussion here
)
haha funny did the forums censor SHIT or did u do that yourself?
lol it was the forums, weird stuff I was like wtf
I use FS and i'd be happy to buy .WAV files from labels if they sell them...but to be buying 192 kbps?? I don't think so...
Hahaha that's great, it censored out the "shit" in "yoSHIToshi"
And I gotta agree with Narcissus, it's either good quality or no deal.
FUnny how it didn't censor shit in the posts but i guesss only in thread topics
192 ORIGINAL not copied vers. of songs have much higher quality than you might think.

| Originally posted by Nemesis44 It's not always about what you hear.... but what you feel. I know I notice if someone plays a dubplate on some of the soudsystems I work with... CDs are easy to spot and MP3s sound shite. What really pisses me off about all this is that people are more concerned with trying to see how far they can reduce the sound quality of music before people find it offensive rather than focusing on giving a high quality performance with rich sound. We are given so much shit from the media about the quality of this that and the other but you have to look at who is selling and who is buying. MP3s are ok I guess for consumer use but they are a load of wank for DJ use. Someone also mentioned that the MP3 deteriorates if it's not the original coding... that's not correct. It's data... it will always be 0's and 1's. If bits go missing then the file is corrupted and useless. You don't get that gradual degradation in sound like you do from cassettes for example. Then you get someone who says... "But what do you have against progress". The answer is nothing... but MP3s are not progress. They are cheapening the artform! Hunting down that illusive track wont be an issue. A DJ will be able to have the same track selection as the next guy. Then people say, "Yeah but then more emphasis will be placed on what you do with it". But the point is... having that illusive track that people want to hear is part of being a DJ. Your records are your weapons, you should pride yourself on having tools that others don't and look to be original (perhaps that's the old hip hop DJ in me). Naturally your skills are important. The problem these days is that people are just not prepared to pay their dues. I meet so many bedroom DJs who often think that just having the records and a crowd and they would be able to rock the place, but there are so many nuances it's unreal. MP3s are complete YoShitoshi... But sadly we will accept them in time just like J Lo and P Diddy have been accepted by the masses and your less educated even think they represent hip hop.. Just as they think Sammy is trance. Just another Nem anti MP3 rant... Cheers Nem |

Just an update: release records have just finished uploading their MP3 download site too, they are 256ks, and rather cheap, I bought some just to try it out, looks promising each release is around 40 mb

each track I bought is around 9 to 10 mins too, so makes sense
and then they repress all of your 'illusive tracks', and you say fine, how much is that cdj in the window =/
