Question Any trance clubs or upcomming gigs in the Seattle area?

Hi there,

I am a small producer from the Netherlands and new to this forum and and huge fan of the U.S.A! In May I will be visiting Seattle (May 14 - May 16) and I wanna checkout the local trance/techno scene in Seattle. Can anybody tell me if there is a club I should visit or a gig I should not miss!? Let me know, I'd appreciate it!

Greetz!

We just had Armin Van Buuren in town before Valentine's Day, and Paul Van Dyk is going to headline at the same club alongside Edgar V in April. So, yeah... Good job not knowing what you're talking about.

LOL...If you think 2 events in the last 4 months qualifies as a Trance Scene for Seattle, I think you need to get your eyes checked. Bondor is spot on...Seattle is pathetic for trance.

For example: In Chicago the last 4 weeks (not 4 months), they've had a big name in town (AVB, G/D, Holden, etc), with this week off for Ultra in Miami, and then Sasha, and Ferry in successing weeks, followed by PVD a couple weeks after that. This is just one example "big city" scene.

Even PDX gives Seattle a run for it's money on the worst scene...where we get 2 shows a year...ROFL...

...I'd certainly re-consider who knows what they are talking about on this one.

Seattle is a completely untapped Market. I wouldn't be amazed if some promoter like Spundae eventually works on having a weekly there as they continue their explosive growth. They've just taken over two untapped markets in Houston and Cleveland (4th largest population in the US, and no major promoter there!!!)...

I can think of a few other untapped markets w/ great potentional and Seattle is surely one of them.

Back in the day (say 5 years ago) there used to be a weekly show at the Showbox that was awesome... good variety of trance and everything else. Every Saturday the place would be packed. The chica's would be dressed to kill. Then it kind of just fizzled off. I heard that the Showbox owners dropped the ball with the promoter and that's why.

I think Seattle still has an underground trance following. Look at the reception we gave Ferry back in November. AvB was a pretty decent turn out (better than what was there for Oliver Lieb). Maybe its the cold dismal Winters that drive Seattle to yearn for Jungle and DnB but there's still a few of us left.

And BTW we had a pretty decent Autumn. In the course of a six weeks, Seattle had PvD w/Jerry Bonham, Ferry Corsten w/DJ Rap, George Acosta, and Judge Jules. But since then its been pretty hit or miss. Vancouver's not too far away though...

If you're into the harder stuff... Paul Glazby is in town on the 14th =)

i completely agree. i remember when the end had a no-commercials show late on saturday nights, and it had a pretty decent following. also, our city has always been hip on the music scene, most recently with the whole alt rock scene. i am sure that electronica could see the same success.

i think more promotion in the area would help, as well as a radio station that played better dance music .while C89.5 has a few decent shows, they would be so much better if they cut out all the cheese thay played.
