The I hate PVD and his threads. Thread

Just want to stir something up... Anyway I have a strong dislike for PVD and his popstar ego... His music was good back in the day. But nows hes just a popstar.... Sasha carries his own records into a club..... Does PVD??? Nuff said.

Yeah!!!!! Vandick Tpod Remix Part II is coming soon.

Posted by PVD_S11DJ on Mar-02-2004 05:50:

yeah, sasha definitely embodies the "non-ego" style DJ... although they both have a right to have egos considering theyre the best at what they do...

how can anyone slag off pvd after all he has done for dance music....after all,,he was the man who gave us..........and where would we have been if it wasnt for.............yeah....the guy blows......

If you have any hate or anti PVD paraphernalia please post it.....

You do realize you created yet another PvD thread... how ironic and hyppocritical (at the same time). I like PvD, I cant say I hate him *yet*, but the quality of his mixes are slowly declining. Almost like he has stopped caring about it, because he knows, no matter what he spins and how he spins it - people will come.

Neither have I, I imagine though...

I sit back, close my eyes, and hear the music pound and move and groove and send me on a voyage. I feel myself dancing and jumping all around to the dancing lights and lasers. And as I look around all I see are familiar faces dancing along with me in a sea of bodies and faces.

Posted by steven neil on Mar-02-2004 07:06:

the cream cd resident is class...you should hear it....all his favourite tunes whilst he played there.......mansun wide open space...freefall skydive....mad mad mad....oakie why did you have to dissapear up your own arse......

Posted by trunks1022 on Mar-02-2004 07:32:

i actually do have that... it's a '98 release right? oakenfold's world tour in 99 is actually what got me fully into EDM. started with underworld and such, but listening to oakey's set from ibiza that year is what got me started. i loooooved that set. and how about his set from homelands that year. OMG, the opening gives me chills every time i hear it. even tho he's kinda dropped off the list for me (see oakenfold at avalon, nyc, thanksgiving eve), i still respect what he's done.

on a thread-related note, i still have great love for pvd. i only really started going out last year during my senior year in college. i wasn't into the scene when these guys supposedly were in their hey day but i'm still enjoying what they put out, pvd especially. i thought his november set at the roxy was awesome and i definitely was looking forward to february's set. i do wish he'd leave the powerbook home one night, especially after this weekend cuz it seemed to have affected his skills.

don't hate me just cuz i still enjoy the music pvd spins. there's no point in bashing others on the forum because of what or who they like or dislike. we will never be able to change each others' opinions about a particular dj or the music he/she spins. what's more, u might be unintentionally hurting that person's feelings. the enthusiasm that people on this board feel for their musical tastes is genuine. don't knock them for it. perhaps u'll scare them off. we're all here for one reason and that's our love of EDM. (NOT directed towards anyone in particular)

Posted by fr0st on Mar-02-2004 07:36:

I put on the old oakenfold emix

"turn it around baby,...turn it arround......"

fucking brilliant. To this day i got mad respect for oakenfold.

I haven't been to many of PvD's recent gigs, so I can't comment on those, but if it weren't for PvD and his brilliant production skills, his passion for bringing electronic music to a global level- along with many of the other veteran superstars, his monumental mix CDs and marathon sets, EDM would not be where it is today. PvD's music and sets embody the beauty, the innocence, and the ambition of a musical genius. Just my opinion though.

Well Im not talking about his past and what he has done for EDM, Im talking about now and how careless he has gotten. I honestly think that laptop takes away from the skill he displayed several years ago when he didnt have it (or when it wasnt the main cornerstone of his mixes).

Its not the laptop that makes him suck........

Here's my 2 cents. Now what i say shouldn't be taken as seriously as other peoples opinions but still wouldn't hurt to read it .
Me, I hate certain things about PvD but just hating pvd as a person isn't what i'm about. Few things i don't like about PvD :
1 - 75% of the times i've seen him he's been a bit snobby to his fans, i've heard really good things that he's done for them including almost stopping a show due to the fact that a fan got the strong side of a bouncer but this side of PvD i haven't seen.
2 - I hate how he plays tracks more then twice, it's almost like he feels he can do it because he's so big, i can't stand that.
3 - I hate his signature it's all sloppy can't tell wtf it is.
I'm new to the whole EDM thing but that doesn't mean that i know my share of EDM and history. Many DJ's that hit it big later on do something to piss off a fan. Tiesto did that coke commercial... for some reason people were all pissed because they felt he was a sellout... ask me the sellout came before Nyana. Seems like he forgot how to put together a magik journey right after ISOS3, ISOS2 if you ask me.
PvD did the Connected commercial for motorola... i liked it but i also have a mixed feeling towards it..
This is just me but the DJ's i think should get a bit more respect and support and Ferry and Armin, both really good DJ's with a awesome personality. I just met Ferry on my birthday and when I got in the DJ booth he was talking to me like he's known me for a while, awesome person. When i first met Armin he was extrememly humble i asked him to sign 2 things and take a picture and he said nothing but "sure, no problem" every time. I've seen pictures of Armin doing some awesome shit for and with his fans and i've also seen video of it... Just don't say something like "you hate pvd for being commercial" and try to bullshit yourself by saying that you wouldn't do it if you had the chance... that's all Adios
