Holy shit this is awesome! First I hear about the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie from Whiskers, now this from Whiskers!

Never heard of it......NEXT!!!!

I read these books so long ago, I have to break em out now and read em over.

definitely good books - hope they dont make it too cheesy though - the bbc did a mini series of them years back and they were awful - it would be good if they made it for adults rather than kids but given the nature of the story I can see it being more like the neverending story

i think theyre doing a bit of a copy of new line who are making a film about "his dark materials" which is a childeren book with an anti organised religion theem to it. which isnt really hidden coz in the end the have a war against heaven and kill god

they're doing a LOTR ripoff - companies realized how popular cult books are and now want to make big bucks off of them

i read both Lion/witch/wardrobe and magician'sNephew almost 20 yrs ago, time to reread them! thx for the news whiskers!!

w00t the set is actually one of the few books I own....and like porky, read them 20 years ago. These could be very good if they go in depth and don't make em cheesy.

Never cared for this series. =\ I'm still waiting for a movie series based on Enders Game.

yeah they do, its pretty simple to find out if you read the books[i have yet to read all of them] but CS Lewis[author] and JRR Tolkien were best friends, both devout catholics. The Lord of The Rings had a christian subtext as well, gandalf being Jesus[some debate frodo is] and the other 8 being the deciples and so on and so forth

HOLY SHIT... me too, i read these books 5 years ago when i was in 6th grade, it was simply badass, as was enders shadow and the subsequent sequals, i never much cared for the other sequals[ie xeniocide and speaker for the dead] but enders game had one of the best endings in any story, book, film, video game EVER

feck...one of my fav tv series and novels when I was young, and now they have to destroy everything I loved and give it to the ungrateful spoilt mobile phone kids of today.

The Lord of the Rings is a Catholic story. Tolkien was a staunch Catholic and that's reflected in the story.

The Narnia series has an Anglican and Protestant perspective. The Lion is supposed to be Christ.

i think i might have read the lion the witch and the wardobe in 5th grade, but i really dont know. either way, movies are cool, hopefully it doesnt suck.

Hope the film doesn't attract the Mickey Mouse groupies!

They already did movies about this in the 80s or so it was a couple different tapes. Watched some growin up ... ** oh the memories **

Just an interesting fact...

Narnia is also a name of a 3 day (yes 3 day party/rave/concert) held out in Indio, CA (where Coachella is gonna be held at) where thousands of people bought presales and the party never went through and promoters took off with everyone's money
