Which mixer of these??

Sorry for the hundred similar thread about which mixer...
I searched and I read many old posts about the mixers I want, but I really need personal answers with positive/negative points on the following mixers for take the best decision:

- Behringer VMX 300 or VMX 200
I see only one difference between these two; one has 3 channels and the other 2. Do I really need 3 channels?? Because I got a pair of MK5 and I think with 2 channels I've got enough. Any more differences a part of the additional channel??

- Gemini PS 626
Reading old posts seems TA's hate this company.

- Vestax PCV-002
Only 2 channels and + or - same price as VMX 300.

- If anyone knows more good mixers around 250... let me know. Atm I can't afford for a Pioneer DJM 500 or 600 but is in my head to buy it in a future.

Thank you I really apreciate your answers. When I was debating which decks I should buy your opinions were very usefuls for me, finally I picked Technics!

Hmmm...to be honest, If I had any of those, I would load my shotgun with buckshot, grab a case of Bud, and have a little fun out in the woods blasting the hell out of them...but thats just me. Save up and buy the Pioneer, you will be glad you did.

i'm gonna go ahead and agree w/ dj mooshine on this one. i'd probably go w/ the vmx300 since it has the extra channel, you might want it if you get a cd deck or a third TT, it keeps your options open.

Say NO to Behringer..

Posted by visje on Mar-03-2004 09:56:

i actually used the ps 626i and i must say that FOR THE MONEY I PAYED FOR IT, its a pretty decent mixer. It can do all the basic stuff and thats it. (got mine for 130 euros)

Posted by UnBracKo on Mar-03-2004 14:28:

hhhmmmmm... I'm still confused, some ppl say yes to behringer some ppl say rotundly NO to this brand. As I said before atm I can't buy a Pioneer and I want start to spin as soon as better. Atm with two channels I have sufficient cos' then if I want add a cd deck or a 3rd TT then I will buy a better mixer like a Pioneer, but right now I can't spend 800 for a mixer.
So tell me your views about these mixers and be more specific plz. I mean if you don't like Behringer say me why.

Cheers,

a lot of people who are using behringer says that it's sound quality is very bad..

Posted by MERiDiAN5i2 on Mar-03-2004 19:48:

if all you want is a cheapie mixer, find someone else.. who has bought a halfway decent cheapie mixer and already upgraded. bet ya they'll let thier old dusty box go cheeeeeeeeep.

i just let me homeboy have my ole stanton box for half what I paid, so he could learn.

That is such a stupid reply... come on, argumentations WHY we need to say NO to behringer???

Why say YES to behringer:
- They have an excellent price/quality ratio
- Behringer has an excellent support if you have problems
- I bought the VMX300, originally only for 2 channels, but eventually I was happy I bought the VMX300 cuz after a year i added a CD player.
- In it's price range, the VMX300 is the most qualitative mixer.
-You can do everything with it. It has Send/receive outputs, recorder outputs, Booth outputs, amplifier outputs.
-There is absolutely NO problem with the headroom for the headphone.
-you save money you can spend on vinyl. It's not cool at all to have an excellent mixer without having any vinyl isn't it?

-> the sound quality argument:
The s/n ratio is 85Db. That's the same as the pioneer. Okay, the numbers aren't always what reality shows. Do you have an amplifier of 1000W in your room? Well, then you won't really hear the difference between a pioneer and a behringer.

And please, stop saying behringer sucks without saying WHY. People start doing it here too much!

Posted by KiNeTiC ENeRgY on Mar-03-2004 21:47:

Berhinger mixers suck because: They have the worst cheapest faders that have more snap crackle and pops than a bowl of Rice Crispies; The sound quality sounds like your playing your tables underwater; That right there should be enough to persuade anyone with half a brain to not buy such shitty gear...Shall I go on with more faults???

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-04-2004 16:46:

Do you have the experiance I have with behringer mixers? I'm using one for almost a year now. There is nothing wrong with the fader quality, I have no leakage AT ALL. If your faders leak, that's a problem you need to use the warranty for. Pops? I've never had one.

The problem with behringer-haters is that they have alot of money to spend. Yeah, sure, get the DJM600 and find a small 1000$ to spend on a mixer. There is absolutely no doubt that there is a huge difference in quality between behringer and pioneer mixers.

For me, a VMX300 fitted perfect. You have a middleclass mixer that does everything perfectly well for a fair price. Don't expect miracles from this mixer. And please, take off your stupid "I only use SL1200s and DJM" glasses. For beginning DJ's, behringer has good perfectly good solutions like the VMX300.

Maybe try configuring the QRS sound effect properly...

Franky, I don't even care what you think of behringer. I'm just annoyed with the short-sightedness that is being shown here. Use the mixers properly before giving negative advice about it.

Actually Tiger777, I think people that buy behringers should look around more first. I bought my mixer, the Stanton sf 2k, which I'd consider much better than the vmx300, for $150, and it barely had any use. So you can buy better mixers with the same (or less) cash, you just have to look around. Oh, and I like the timing of the other thread, with the guy complaining about the crackling faders on his djx 700

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-05-2004 17:56:

I don't really care if you don't buy behringer, I haven't got any stocks of them. I'm just saying I have good experiences with my VMX300. I never had crackling faders, maybe he should try using the warranty service...

So tell me the models... please

Oh and thanks Tiger now I'm more closed to buy a Behringer cos' you have set out good points about it and I really wanted this (know the experiences you've had with those mixers)

www.ebay.com Just look around. Again, I bought my Stanton sk 2f on ebay for $150, and I love it compared to anything behringer has. IMO, behringer is what people get suckered into, as you can find much better *slightly* used mixers on eBay.

Posted by UnBracKo on Mar-06-2004 09:31:

Ok, I'll take a quick on ebay thx

for turntables I'd recommend that... But for mixers, I don't know. You don't know what the last owner did with the mixer. You (in most cases) don't know how old the mixer really is and stanton or behringer, faders don't give troubles the first 2 weeks of usage, but after a few months or more.
A used mixer is worth half the price of a new one... why?
-The warranty is probably already void
-The faders are used and that's what limits the maximum age of your mixer.
-Less important is that there usually are traces of usage, well, not that important, but worth pointing to it. If you can go test the mixer, you won't have problems. I went testing an sl1200 once that where it "was noticeble that it was used". If I didn't went testing it, I'd have bought an almost unusable sl1200 that didn't even have the on-off switch anymore. I'm not saying all those sellers are dodgy, but you need to be carefull with people that don't have any points...

I don't know how it's there, but there is a relatively big price difference between the VMX300 and the SK2f. Eventually you'll grow out of both the VMX300 and the SK2f into something like the DJM600. But all begin is tough and I can't help it, but in the beginning you're playing for yourself. In the beginning don't buy shit you can't use like I did. I bought a mixer of 60 and I dumped it after 2 months. That's was a mixer with crackling faders! I threw away 60 I could've spent on vinyl and I'm still pissed off about that. Now my VMX300 is about 14 months old and I use it 15 hours a week and I have to say that I haven't got any problems with crackling faders.

This poll was done a few months ago... In the lower middleclass mixers, behringers mixers do score relatively high.

Posted by UnBracKo on Mar-06-2004 11:41:

I've found a Behringer DJX 700 for 299 on ebay. I think it's a good deal cos' the seller won the mixer in a raffle and he hasn't used it. Also it has 2 years of warranty.

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-06-2004 11:44:

The new price here in belgium (expensive country for those things) is 290... I guess 299 w/ shipping is a little too much

Posted by UnBracKo on Mar-06-2004 11:48:

really?? I didn't know I've seen this mixer too much expensive than 299 so I thought was a good deal.

Posted by DynaFire on Mar-11-2004 10:38:

As a gemini user, i hate them, i really hate them. PS-626, ok layout, sound quality is ok but the build quality is terrible and occasionaly i just stops working and you have to tap it in the correct place to get it working... not dust or anything like that! Then again, i don't like the pioneer gear very much either... poor build quality on a lot of models especially the djm500 and the nobs fall of on all of them. I find the layout less than intuitive. Sound quality is also sub standard on a pioneer, due to the digitalisation of everything that goes through it. Haven't used a behringer so i can't comment.

check out some stanton mixers, i have the sk6, its been about 3 years now, and the mixer is still in great shape even with approx 15 hours of use a day. (i use it as a preamp for my laptop, cd player and tts and leave it on through the night alot)

some people complain about stanton, but my experience has been pretty good.
