Happy Hardcore = trance? i think not!

I recently went out clubbing in Sydney. There were two levels in the club - RNB upstairs, and "trance/happy hardcore" downstairs.

I was downstairs the whole night, and the music was pretty much happy hardcore the whole night.

You all know what i mean, 160bpm, chipmunk female vocals etc etc

The DJs played some pretty cool tracks, and i had an awesome night listening to happy hardcore for the first time, but at the end of the night, i said to my friends "where was the trance?" and then they said to me "what are you talking about, happy hardcore is trance?" and i'm like "WTF??"

The closest thing to trance the whole night was a happy hardcore remix of Rank 1 - Airwave, which was played three times during the night might i add.

Now what i want to say is, how the hell is happy hardcore considered trance? Beats me. My friends were adamant that it is trance, and I just gave up trying to convince them.

Very strange......

P.S. Has anyone heard that Inspector Gadget happy hardcore song? I went absolutely nuts to that song.

nowadays the 'new' form of happy hardcore known as free form has adopted a lot of trance elements

and some of it is actually very well produced I might add

To a lot of people, any form of EDM = Trance

happy hardcore make baby jesus cry

this is how HHC is trance, you take a 33rpm trance record and press the 45rpm button, you now have happy hard core. it works best for those cheesy tracks

It was Gas nightclub - last friday night.

It was an event called "N20", which was organised by a few of my friends from high school.

It was pretty much all asian.....(not that that matters!)

lol
i think many people go thru a stage when they like HHC (often early-teen years), and then they realise trance is better, and years later they look at HHC and admit its absolute wank

Happy Hardcore can be mixed with trancecore and freeform, and both contain several trancey elements. In such context, someone may take hhc as vocal trancecore (which would be funny as hell ), so that's the trance they meant: trancecore.

Trancecore is good.
Freeform is good.
Some hhc is good.
