M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 vs Emu 1212m

Well, im looking to get a new audio card and these are my choices:
M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 vs Emu 1212m

Link 1: Emu 1212m

Link 2: M-Audio Audiophile 24/96

I think im leaning more towards the EMU, what are your opinions guys?

Thanks,

im going to be using an external mixer eventually.. right now i just have the 1 external synth to input, processing too much audio on one card may cause it to hang.. and i dont need that.

Rob, go with the emu1212m, i ordered mine, and ill be using it to connect my nordlead 3 which i just bought today if you have 1 external synth don't bother gettin a 1010, as you really don't need the extra ins and outs. if you ever decide to add more hardware you can always sell the 1212m and upgrade to the 1280m or a motu or whatever.

Hey nrg, im really considering this emu 1212m but the only thing that worries me is how good the asio drivers are. i want to have 0 (or as close to zero i can get) latency. I want to be able to do everything in real time, and from what ive heard about the 2496 it has great asio drivers (supposedly on par with motu drivers) however i havent heard anything about the drivers on the 1212m.. have you heard anything about this?

Thanks Man,

Ross B

and oh yeah, nrg you have a pm

Has anyone hear anything yet about the 1820m series in actual use? I haven't been able to find a review where someone has actually used the darn thing. I'm very intersted in getting one, but I'd like to hear about it in use before I do. Just looking at its features, it looks incredible, although I'm a little weary because it is a Creative product. Can anyone point me in the direction of any user reviews?

rb2k1, I have just the Jp8080 and the Audiophile 24/96 soundcard right now and I do everything in real time, and i have no problems there.

However I have a emu 5000 on the way which I want to be able to use in real time too so i might go for that MOTU or compromise with running stuff through a mixer, but then it wont be real time.

but anyway, the 24/96 is great with my Jp8080 right now and i dont notice any latency or input delay etc.

Hey Ross, yeah that's the only thing I'm worried about. Cause we all know no matter how good the hardware is, if the drivers suck, its worthless. m-audio, echo, motu all have great drivers. I guess we'll just have to wait for a review which should be really soon, because from what i've heard the cards have already shipped. But for 200 bucks, i'll take a gamble, especially when you got pro tools flagship A/D converters.

I added you to my msn, sorry about that. i never check my private messages. i'm a bad boy

So what's the 1212m like in your opinion if you have now got it?

I have the 1820m its probally the best card ive ever had. The asio drivers work great. keep in mind it also has DSP effect no cpu usage ... A/D sound freaking amazing @ +4db settings , by default the card is @ -10db . It's not Creative btw they just own EMU .. EMU desinged the card not Creative
