Why do you dj?

Being my first post in this new world with no geographical boundaries I'd love to hear what makes everybody tick.

Why do you play?

Is it because you have a love for music?

Is it because you like to provide pleasure for people?

Are you a dancer or trancer at heart?

I do it because I really like the music, and it's a lot of fun to get out there and watch people enjoy the music that I love so much. Thats the reason I spend so much on records and equipment.

If I were doing it for the glamour and glory I would have been sadly disappointed a long time ago because I have been playing out since 1998 and have found neither. It's a ton of work and a strain on the wallet, but the smell of a freshly opened vinyl that I have been waiting months for the label to release makes it worth it every time.

Since the first set I heard (Some Ferry Corsten set at Mysteryland in 2002) I simply fell in love with the music. In my eyes, its the most emotional music out there.

But really, its purely for the love of music plus having your friends or complete strangers actually enjoying the music that you enjoy is a great feeling - converting someone into a trance addict though your Djing is priceless!

why do people write poetrY? Why do people like to draw?

I love starting from scratch and seeing where I end up after an hour...I love the transitions...I love the beatmatching...But most of all, I love the music.

It's VERY VERY VERY hard to find people here who like trance, much less respect it for what it is. I mean come on, I live in the US.

But I still keep going, hoping to find that crowd of followers someday. I do what I do cus it's fun, artistic, and beautiful. And when I find those who will cherish it as much as I do, I'll be king of the world with my hands in the sky...and everyone will be having an incredible night!

when i first started going to real clubs i was blown away by the music, and how the djs would weave songs together and create waves of energy through out the night. i want to give the feeling that i got when i first started clubbing to other people. and i love EDM anyways, so thats a reason too.

Because I love it. I love how trance makes me feel. From the time I first got addicted to trance I knew I had to make others feel the way I feel about it, and DJing is the best way to do that.

i do it for entertainment, i love using decks.. especially when they cost so much money . i enjoy manipulating the music, i enjoy making many small things into one big thing. i enjoy entertaining people, i like giving people some music that they may not have heard before.

but most of all, i love fu�king techno!

its a stupid thing to love, because 90% of the time you are spending loads of money and getting no return. but there is nothing like going out and blasting �50 just on vinyl

Because i don't actually play out at the moment i'd say i do it for the love of the music, with money in mind for the future.

i don't see myself ever becoming a huge dj name, but hopefully i will start getting the odd saturday night gig in clubs.. so i can let others feel what i feel when i mix dj rush - sinner man (gabry fasano remix)

just getting in to the whole dj'ing thing, dont have decks ATM, still on the puter. I do it simply because i love the music, I could never play to a crowd as i wouldn't have the confidence, even if i did get good enough.

Also, have you ever been out and heard a track, and thought...

'how good would it be if he mixed this track in next, it would go really well'

well you have the freedom to do that as the DJ

Two things about me which should help you understand why I DJ. 1) I love electronic music. 2) I like playing with electronic equipment. DJ�ing seems a natural progression.

I keep DJ'ing because it's great fun. Even if you trainwreck every mix, you can't deny that blasting away at home with quality tunes isn't the incredibly fun! Plus you get to dance around!
