The New NAPSTER

Go here to download it...

Does anyone else use this? i just downloaded it today and its just like what napster used to be, but so much more - give it a go (before the record companies jump on it).

by the way, who else has tried gnutella? god damn that thing sucked! one time i downloaded a 10meg mp3 and it used up 100mb in the process from all the search messages it was re-routing through me. winmx seems to use a central server (havent actually had a good look at it yet) and you can download movies, pics, mp3 and other stuff.

'nuff said

WinMX has been around for ages! I only use Audiogalaxy now!

Dog Running

winmx is sooooo old!!!!!! I use AudioGalaxy, I once used Audiognome, but I stopped cause it sucks!!!!!
sometimes I use Morpheus (Musiccity). it's got lots of music. much more than Napster ever had!!!! check it out. www.musiccity.com

but Morpheus is pretty slow....... I still think Audiogalaxy is the best!!!!

WinMX has its own peer-to-peer network now, so there's usually a shitload of stuff on there, but it depends on the time of day.

Thumbs up MusicCity Morpheus ALL THE WAY

I've used just about every P2P program there is - Napster (before and after the restrictions), Scour, AudioGalaxy, BearShare, LimeWire etc. etc. - and I can definately recommend Moprpheus as being the best. Huge user base (most d/l'ed file on download.com), fast connects (I've got cable...) from multiple users and no queueing like in gnutella clients.

Do yourself a favour, download it now.

I think that Morpheus is very slow, compared to Audiogalaxy....
in Morpheus I get to about 10-15Kbps, but on Audiogalaxy I get to 65-75Kbps!!!!!! and I have ADSL. just imagine what it can do for faster connections......

I have cable, and even though I'm capped at 64/16KB(BYTES not BITS) I still get up to 30/40KB per file, and can have that for multiple files.

Furthermore, Audiogalaxy shows files that are 'offline', which quite frankly was more frustrating than helpful for me. Especially if the user that I inteded to download it from never came online.

Audiogalaxy doesn't download the file from multiple users simultaneously; Morpheus does. Anyone who's used it - or GetRight's 'Multiple Download' feature - will know what I mean.

ok, first of all, I have that 65-75Kbytes per file for multiple downloads too. even though the maximum speed I EVER did was about 300 or 350Kbytes per file......
and you are correct, it shows "offline" files, wich is quite annoying. but that's the reason I don't download files that only 1 user is sharing.... (unless I have no choice, of course).... so that never happened to me. exept maybe only once.... but I just keep on surfing and doing my stuff on the computer, and eventualy, audiogalaxy will start the download.... so on the same day, or on the day after, I have the file on my computer, without even noticing it downloaded it......
and no, audiogalaxy doesn't have multiple download. but I personally think it's bullshit. I don't need it. my internet connection is fast enough.
but audiogalaxy has something better. once you put a file on the download list, it automaticaly finds the user with the fastest connection to you, and downloads the file from him. and if that user goes offline, audiogalaxy finds the naxt fastest user, with the same file, with the same size, name, and quality, and continues the download from him....... it's a nice feature. and you don't have to do anything. audiogalaxy deos all the work for you.

Hmm...

They're some pretty good features. Still, I usully want my files 'on demand', ie. when I download them - which I is why I prefer Morpheus. Audiogalaxy is probably best for people who *really* want a file, no matter how long it'll take the download to start.

BTW, thanks for posting that.

Posted by HyPeRSoNiC on Aug-19-2001 21:50:

but still, beleive it or not, there are files that I found on Audiogalaxy, and didn't find on Morpheus.
I think the only reason you get offline files on Audiogalaxy, is that you try to download files who are only shared by 1 user.... bad idea.... anyway, in Audiogalaxy I can get the exact same version I want, and in my case, I get all my songs "in demand"......
anywayz, Audiogalaxy and Morpheus are both different programs, and their both great. it just depends on what the user finds more easy to use......
BTW, your welcome, and thanx for talking to me about it. maybe I'll try using Morpheus more often. peace.

Nice

Interesting - i didn't know that only files shared by one user were available offline.

All well and good. Peace out dude.

Posted by HyPeRSoNiC on Aug-20-2001 18:36:

lol!!!!! that's not what I meant!!!
I meant, if there is a file shared by one user, there is the possibility that the user will be offline at the moment you request the file...... lol....... files available offline.......
