TRANCE TRIBE - The Event - what do you want?

Hi everyone.

Myself, and a couple of others high on the TT foodchain have been discussing the first official Trancetribe event for a while.

It's obvious that the way to have the best event, and to draw the biggest crowd, and to supply you all with the most memorable night, is to actually ask what you want!!

So, what do you want at the TT 01 event? It will be an event sized thing, and not just a club night, since it isn't a regular thing.

Should we have an international DJ ($6000 cost)
Which DJ's would you like to see?
_What are your hopes in terms of a lighting set up?
Would you want an MC to introduce each DJ?
What would you be willing to pay?

What would you be willing to pay to come to an event that promises to be an amazing night of true melodic and uplifting trance? It would most likely be at Bohem, and the place would be dressed up in full tribal theme, and beefed up with a massive sound system (if anyone knows me well, they will know that I won't be happy until the sound is the BEST).

DJ's who we are considering are:

Jumping Jack
Sample Gee
Diggs & Morro
Liquid M
Lee Hardy
Josh Van Aalst
myself
+ others..

Look forward to hearing your feedback.

Scott

go with "A NIGHT OF TRANCE " and together you might be able to draw 50 ppl!

or think of a non-gay event name!

Ok some of my names i been thinking of:

Sonic Cathedral

Electronic Domain

...

you get my drift.

Posted by escee on Mar-04-2004 13:36:

i think that trance as of late has just been lacking originality so a name is needed that will represent that current status.

So really what does that mean?

examples
Trancecrasher
Ministry of Trance
Trancekitchen

As you can see these examples ever so smoothly insert the word trance in popular brand names. This also works with words with the trans in too. Like the tranceport series. TRANCEport. smooth. So maybe TRANCEatlantic or something? Im sure there are many possibilities that are still up for grabs!

Posted by gumble on Mar-04-2004 13:47:

TRANCEvestite

TRANCEparent

TRANCEfix

trance will eat itself...

Posted by bassaholix on Mar-04-2004 21:21:

A name suggestion???

Down The Rabbit Hole...

Sumthing diff...

i guess ill be willing to pay $20?

Umm about suggestions? DJ Rob Energy.... pretty much everyone know my friend Rob! He plays on ETS Global

Umm might wanna share the place, not just trance, that will bring your numbers up.

Make it before a big event, for the ppl who come from afar will actually come.

Good promotion n leave it for a while, cause its gonna take time to build up the numbers.

Gumble, escee, if you guys don't have anything productive or non-sarcastic to add, stay out of the thread. It's wearing very thin.

just don't refer to it as a TT even. Calling it TT means we might think it's related to two tribes, so you're international won't show up, the sound will be crap, and we'll get locked out from whichever act we paid to see. I might also end up talking complete cod-shit to a cop at some point, which might actually make it worth going.

Posted by tubby on Mar-04-2004 23:07:

more seriously, how well known outside the pretty small trance community is your headliner? that and how far you can spread the advertising will be key to getting more than the loyal fans in.
pick your weekend well, quite a few of the halcyons I never made it to cos they were right after other events, or direct clashes. don't wait too long cos it'll be harder to get people out of their warm houses in the depths of winter, or plan this for the spring.
as far as local support, there's no shortage of talent, but they don't really sell the show as much as an import, so anyone you've listed below that will play towards the headliner's style, working as a proper support act. ie no bexta floor clearing crap at the wrong event.
lighting never fussed me much, and it's a bit hard to get right in bohem cos it's so light anyway. I'd say spend minimal amounts on lighting if you can put a bit more into sound.
chillout is a bit difficult there, maybe one corner somehow fenced off a bit with the couches there, like where halcyon normally has the dj's. the shopping arcade is just too bright for a chillout. youneed somewhere to encourage drinking, that's a serious part of the revenue. And on that note, what are the arrangements if no-one's drinking? a 3am close due to bad bar takings would give you a very bad name on your first event type promotion.
Price is difficult to say without knowing who the mystery man is, and never having hired dj's, I have no idea what $6000 would get you. I'd be guessing in the $40-50 range, normally.

me on the line-up

um John 00 Fleming is looking at coming in september, so grab him! This is what trance should be

No but i think you need a big name, not someone like Ronski Speed who only a handful know, someone bigger.

Im trying to think of someone but i got a blank spot lol.

Johan Gielen mabye, i know he is looking at coming out.

THe thing is scott, if you're going to do it, make sure you do it right You really need to spend A LOT on advertising it, especially in 3D world, make your ad stand out, look ats what is successful at the moment.

thank you daddy.

Looking forward to this of course. It will be really great if the Trance community could have it's own big event and I think this definately promises to be just that. An event which could regularly attract international Trance artists.

I agree with muli, and to escee, your Perth attitude really is starting to wear thin... n im not the only person who's said it...

Posted by stamper on Mar-05-2004 02:49:

I think if you are actually going to make it an event then you have to have genres other than trance there as well to boost the numbers, i think trance alone won't prove very successful (unfortunately).

Posted by starsurfer on Mar-05-2004 02:50:

what about Neo & Farina?

Scott

Posted by muli on Mar-05-2004 02:57:

neo & farina i don't think really have a big name, especially in Sydney.

I mean they(he?) have produced some good stuff, but most people wouldnt know who they are let alone what they are like at DJing.

To be honest scott, i think N&F would be a waste of $6k (expensive!) you could get better value from someone else.

Posted by lethal on Mar-05-2004 05:58:

As has been said i think a 2 room format would be much better then just a single.... especially at a location like gas when you can almost simultaneously run 2 events at once (if u want to think of it like that!)....

Also for a headline act it needs to be someone well known in the scene - unfortunately i dont think anyone on ta can give u a good appreciation of who the docile masses actually know of.... u may have to just go to a few sublimes, plastics & progresses and just ask people who they would like to see.... im willing to bet if you mentioned neo and farina the vast majority would stare at you blankily!!! Another idea (though vastly more expensive) would be having one trance international and say one breaks international and utilise the 2 room format.....

You may also want to look at putting someone on the lineup like BeXta, Nik, Nervous or Peewee because as much as WE know their music (and music skills) arent great - they DO attract a following....

Just floating some ideas....

Its a shame, I would've offered you a spot at Trancefixion, but obviously you're too cool and wouldn't accept it anyway based on the name not being up to your standards.

and on a suggestion note, Lanithium (PER) vs TrainwreckaH (PER) .. doo eeeet
