here we go again, another modern remake.

have they not figured out that remaking the 99 style trance has been done to death. surely they also relize 99 style is more interesting and a bigger seller, but the artists continue to make this prog, tech-trance, and in ferry corsten's cas 'electro-funk' boring crap. just go back to producing some original sounds in the 99 format and you wont need to remake/update every track from that era and kill it off.

Posted by Unreal on Mar-05-2004 06:50:

Wrong! 1999 style is boring and typical.

Prog and Ferry's new style kick ass.

i've yet to see the big deal about Greg Murray...everything that i've heard of his has been very average and unimpressive...

Posted by Sand Leaper on Mar-05-2004 07:32:

No no no!!!! Leave the classics the fuck alone!!!

I liked his remixes of Corderoy - Sweetest Dreams and Solarcoaster but generally I agree with you. I haven't heard this mix yet, or Ferry's update, but I tend to agree with Sand Leaper also... this track was redone once, about a year after its initial release, and it doesn't need it again.

*plays The World '99 (Lange Remix)*

Posted by GrimReaper on Mar-05-2004 09:22:

Damnit!

No more updates of the classics from the past please!!

Haven't heard these '04 versions yet but i doubt i will like them too much as i haven't liked much of any of the updates over the past few years.

Why can't they leave them alone...??!!

I dont know whats your problem guys!? As someone said before the Moonman is still the same as back in 1999. Only Murrays mix is new. But it doesnt get close to the moonman mix imho.

I agree with your slagging on the remake trend...this track had better be fuckin' amazing, otherwise it'll be just another in a long line of 'let's repackage an old track and cash in on it again a few years later' releases.

I think progression and change is necessary for music to evolve, so I like the changes that the scene has been going through; but I agree with this basic premise: if you want to release 99 style music then just pen some new 99 style music instead of rehashing songs that were already played into the ground!

Let people remake what they want, if it's so bad then just avoid any song with the word remake or the current year in the title.

your going to find it hard to not hear the remakes whene very DJ plays them. and if every Dj plays them, they must be good right? which means 99 style is still liked / wanted and the newer sounds arent so wanted!? so as mentioned above, pen down some proper uplifting trance in the 99 format. also i like the original set of mixes of a lot of tunes and by the time cafe del mar was re-released for the nth time in 2002 (10 years later nearly), i was sick to death of it. why do people remake the classics? answer.. money. why do they make money? because more people buy them than some thick bassline intensive progressive crap. which means... people want TRANCE, and hte producers want to make it. the only problem left is that it would of been boring as hell by now if it had stayed trance since 99. however its time to change imo.

Yea but some things can't be avoided so might as well live with it and enjoy them to the point where the original was a good song and it's simply a new interpretation of the song.

Totally agree. He's just been "one of those mediocre new uplifting producers" to me.

Posted by Cobalt on Mar-06-2004 15:00:

The Greg Murray remix is a soft and mushy little work in the typically emasculated style of newer Dutch trance. Softer kicks, more twinkly noises, comfy washes. In summary, designed for the armchair tranceaddicts, not the dancefloors.

Lange Remix still owns the rest, in my opinion.

Posted by SMC on Mar-06-2004 19:18:

I have not heard the Greg Murray remix, I guess it's good but it feels like the original mix, not the Moonman club mix, always will be the best. It's so beautiful, it's full of energy and emotion. I love the main melody and those sweet vocals by Maire Brennan. It all reminds me of the time three-four years ago when I was totally addicted to Ferry Corsten's music.
