i used to go to Sheepshead Ballys too, still have membership but now mostly work out in NYSC by the Caesar's bay.

i've been looking at gyms lately too... how much are memberships at the places u go to? i really want to go to a place that has a basketball court too but it seems the only places with a court are the local Y or college gyms. little help?

Posted by Greedy on Mar-06-2004 02:07:

well, i hope no one here works at the gym, cuz imma bust ur bubble right now.

of course we all know that the guys selling membership want u to get the most expensive one. U dun need that. Do a lil research and find out how much down payments and monthly charges are at other gyms.
Then go to the gym u wanna go to, and bargain. Tell him that ur just shopping around and act hesitant and tell them that youre also talking to the guy at the other gym (their rival).

Wat happened to me, was that the guy started off by saying i had to put down $100 down payment, then $40 monthly fee. I was like "man, im just testing the gym out, i dont want spend that much, i dont even KNOW you guys and how you operate."

then after bargaining for 5 mins, the sales guy "all of a sudden" remembers that he has 2 extra discount passes cuz his "friends" didnt take. So he "gave" it to me. So i just put $50 down payment, and a monthly fee of $35 after that. Make sure you read the paperwork cuz its like a cell phone, youre on a 2-3 year term.

just started going to the gym again, I feel great now. Plan on going at least 5 times a week hopefully, especially over break.

well the NYSC i go to does have a basketball court, as well as 5 raquetball courts. its $70 per month so if you're cheap its probably not for you.

Posted by Greedy on Mar-06-2004 17:30:

nah down here the rich ppl go to LifeTime Fitness. They are open 24/7 and have their own cafe as well as olympic size track and large pools.

holy shiet i cant straighten out my arm from last night.

ah yeah sorry. dang it... the nysc in forest hills by my place doesn't have a court i think. hard to find specialty gyms with them

worked out the chicken legs tonight. . .got PWNED

Posted by kenn014 on Mar-08-2004 03:34:

I go to the Bally's in Landmark about 5 days a week around 7:30.
I think the best deal at Bally's is there lifetime membership. I got mine 2 yrs ago for $700... for the first 3 yrs you dont pay anything and after that it's just $7 a month. you can probably find some on ebay.

lol no but that was also somewhat of an arduous task
i did push-ups later and chest and biceps exercises now i could hardly extend my chest

Posted by vasyachkin on Mar-10-2004 04:07:

40 lbs ? you know you really should be able to do better than that. if you can't bench-press your own weight i can guarantee without looking at you that you look like shit. pushups and 40 lb dumbbells won't get you very far.

if you get too big, many girls don't like that either ( this is from personal experience ). i would say, at 5'10" you would look best ( meaning attract most girls ) if you were about 150 - 180 lbs bodyweight and nicely cut-up with well defined abs and everything.

you need to go to gym and do exercises like bench press, squat, rows, deadlifts, pulldowns/chinups/weighted chinups, dips/weighted dips etc ... some of these exercises like squat are very dangerous, you can literally end up in a wheelchair for the rest of your life so you will need expert supervision at first. you don't need to get personal training sessions, just when you see a really jacked guy squatting 300 lbs ask him to show you how to do it ( not with 300 lbs of course ).

thats my back. no thats not how i want to look. rather i will try to get ripped for the summer which will require dropping massive amounts of weight, this pic was taken just before i started dieting for the summer.
