its a mathematical trick to do with multiples of 9 i think

When you add the digits of any two-digit number together, then subtract that total from your original number, you will get a multiple of nine every time. If you look closely, the symbols for all the multiples of nine are the same each time (the actual symbol itself varies, but all the multiples of nine have the same one)
