BT (One of the best yet)

I thought it would be a good idea to let you people from all over the world know just how good BT as producer and now a DJ!!(yes DJ) is.
I saw him perform his renowned Laptop Symphony last night. I went in thinking that it would be good just to see the man that is now a legend. Well he performed one of the best quality sets Ive heard.EVER!!. He is the true definition of what it is to be a musician. He can sing, play guitar, drums, piano, produce some of the best music ever created and perform in front on a live audience with some of the best music you will ever hear

Back to his set....I dont have a complete tracklist from it but I know some of them,
(In know particular order)

Sunblind (Featuring Jan Johnston)
Godspeed
Flaming June Vs Run DMC - Its Tricky(This was amazing!!!)
Somnambulist (Junkie XL Dub Mix)
Force Of Gravity
Knowledge Of Self (Until the power in the building went out)
Dave Gahan - Dirty Sticky Floors (Junkie XL Vocal Mix)
Lenny Kravitz - Are you gonna go my way

There were many others as the set went for 2 hours but I can't remember all just yet. It was one of the most diverse sets I have heard. How many people are there that can mix Lenny Kravitz Are you gonna go my way into a set and make it sound awesome....well I know the answer NO ONE!. The place was completely jumping when he played that.

All I wanted to really say is that BT is an awesome DJ, maybe he never used to be and that'd fine, but know no one can speak ill of this man anymore

Peace

Eric Morillo played Lenny Kravitz in a festival by me last summer. Glad to see BT was a good DJ, i think the man's a genius. Tom

this is at sydney twotribes?

i got told from a friend that went that he didnt arrive till 5am (meant to start at 2) & took another 30 to get setup - due to his domestic flight being cancelled, and he got a private jet up.

after his set time was finished, he didn't want to stop and tryed to buy 'set time' off djs that were due on after him, which im told were nu-skool guys with there first big break* - and apparently his 'manager' managed to negotiate him a extra half hour.

(* for those who dont live in au, twotribes is australia's biggest dance music festival, 2003 featured armin, picotto, jxl, sander k, etc - and i know as a amateur dj myself i sure as hell wouldnt give up a set there)

o yea, and to even get pics of him, you have to go thru his manager
- and then its no flash anyway.

unlike hybrid who were also playing, who my mate met, had a good chat to for 30 minutes, got pics taken and got his shit signed

lol

From all acounts, he sucked major ass at Sydney Two Tribes, and was a real disappointment.

alot of people bagged his sydney performance, but i quite enjoyed it. I think a lot of people were annoyed cos he started 3 hours late due to the flights being cancelled. His set changed up the pace a bit, and maybe that doesn't work as well at 6am as it might have at 3? Don't know about him pushing other dj's out of their slot, when he finished, there was a discussion which ended with jumping jack playing a 10-15 minute slot before trent anthony and ben korbel closed. which was wierd cos JJ's style just doesn't fit in that line-up, and also cos he played in another room early in the night.

agreed.

fair enough he was delayed and rocked up 3 hours late - this stuff happens, but he just looked like an idiot. He was trying too hard to win the crowd back and it just wasn't working for him.

the tunes were shit, the vibe was shit, performance was shit.

maybe next time BT..

azuma25 is referring to BT @ Two Tribes Melbourne.

Having arrived on time and with sufficient rest BT performed a lot better it would appear.

His performance for a local rave out here in Southern Cali last October was kinda lame...he dropped ATRC, but did some kind of lame ass delay-echo effect that made the song sound like a bunch of dead kitties in a blender. He playted Flaming June and closed out with Dreaming, and the crowd got into it, but overall it was a dissapointment. Not to mention his set at Coachella 2002 was sloppy was as well.
Both times I've seen BT, I wasn't too impressed...
He's an AWESOME musician though...truly a representative of electronic dance music.

Yeah, I saw him in Melbourne....Sorry Sydney people.

People are saying how his performances in the past have been average and this is why i started this thread, cause i think he has really worked hard at becoming a respected DJ.

My 2 cents: I've always loved and always will love his EMs, one of which was done live.
