The Pit is pretty nice, its on the SE corner of college and yonge right by the candy store.

PDR is really ghetto but it does have some good records tucked away if you can stand the ghettoness. they will also order stuff for you unlike lots of other places. it's on the east side of yonge between dundas and gerrard.

release is nice but really small. it is on yonge, i think a little south of wellesly.

and metropolis is also ok, its on the NW corner of queen and spadina next to blockbuster.

i would suggest you go to all of those because they all have different stuff and they are all pretty close to eachother.

Define best...

Country music record shop?

Posted by Skipper on Mar-09-2004 02:07:

I hate the pit. The guy is an asshole, and I refuse to shop there. I don't even go in.

Release is mostly trance and progressive. I love their setup - but the truth is, there never seems to be anyone in there so listening to records is never a problem.

play de record is crazy but good lord, they have a lot of good shit. Sometimes there are just too many people though.

My absolute fave store after my first visit there this past weekend is 2thebeat. Andy if they don't have your record, they will order it. The staff was crazy friendly and the selection of techno was off the hook. Hard, minimal, booty...and it's not separated by label like play de.

yaaaaah 2thebeat!!!

If you would bother to read the posts then you'd know what he's talking about.

Holly shit...THANK YOU!!!
I totally agree...I can't stand the dude...why don't just give me all of your recods in the whole entire store to listen to...sure i know nothing about music and i do have 20 hours to stand there and listen to them all...BAH he drives me nutts...I can only go in when he's not there which is pretty much never

*EDIT*
Yeah i don't like when they separate it by lable...sometimes you don't know what lable you need and you just know the song and they don't have a clue where to look for it which is pretty rediculous by my standards

I did read the posts, and I do know what he is talking about, but he didn't define the best. I don't really understands what he wants. Does he want the biggest record store, or the shinyest, or wth?

If you would bother to think, you would understand what I mean.

sorry. i guess you're just too smart for me.

i thought it was pretty obvious he's asking for a good vinyl store that carries techno records. i never thought he might be interested in the shiniest store.

Anywho, TTA: there's a crapload of record stores on Yonge St. Going from Dundas and Yonge north, all the way to Bloor, you'll run into 3 or 4 shops. There really is no 1 single best store. Just give them a call, and find out if they have the record that you're looking for.

That's b/c he's the owner....his name is Paul, I believe.

I've found good records in there, but no gems really, and the atmosphere in there just makes me really uncomfortable. And if I'm uncomfortable when I'm SHOPPING, then something is wrong!!

must.... not.... flame.... Mr Zamboni.... must... not...
daaah i can't help it!

Posted by Dr. Z on Mar-09-2004 03:29:

The Pit at Yonge and Carlton
and
2 the Beat at Queen and Spadina
seem to have a descent collection, otherwise they will just order what you need.
