Equipment Operating Temperature
halo thar...
does anyone know what the general temperature range for a room is, for storing your turntables, mixer and vinyl in? I checked through my user manuals but couldnt find it.
Im asking this because i cant get the goddam radiator in my uni dorm room to switch off
...cant leave the window open either when im out cos im on the ground floor and anyone could just come in and steal my stuff
...
so my rooms always very hot
hope my vinyl doesnt melt
cheers.
decks/mixer should be fine. electrical equipment can take a fair bit of temp before the components change there behaviour too much. the only kind of decks suseptibal to high temps are belt drive as the high temps expand the belt making it looser.
if i knew what records were actualy made of i could probly find out for you.
just keep them as far away from radiators as possable. and do not subject them to huge temp changes as this damages everything in the world ranging from rocks to fruit!!!
just remember the key rules of record storage. store upright and not to many per bundle of uprights. this will minimise any damage. the temp on its own wont do a huge amount of damage but temp and pressure will.
if your records are in a crate, about how many do you put in each crate before its 'too much pressure'
