Who is going to be checking out Black this weekend?

I'm really interested in seeing what they've done to the place (in terms of remodeling and putting in a killer soundsystem). I'm assuming its going to be packed, not as packed as the 12,000 that they pulled in NYE, but still pretty jammed.

Some random bits of info.
1) For those old SF heads on here, Paris is going to be working the door. IMO, this is when the factory was best, in 99-01, when she was REALLY tight with dress code and throwing people off of the line.
2) Its 21+ the WHOLE night
3) As referenced to in #1, code is dress to impress

Even though Peters isn't a favorite DJ of mine, I have a feeling this will be one of the best parties of the year.

While some people may laugh, Jonathan Peters has what a lot of other DJs don't: a near-religious following. You can't underestimate that, no matter who the DJ may be, or what music he spins. I think he definetly has the headcount to run a successful night, but how that is going to fit in with things like dress code and the increased scrutiny of the law remains to be seen.

Personally, I'm more interested in how long that place will stay open. With it being the former Exit and Peters now headlining, that place is going to have a bullseye painted on it.

But if it produces a solid party, who knows. . .they may even run something different on Fridays (presuming JP takes Saturdays like the old days). A new club = another place to bring in more acts.

Time will tell all. . .

Peace,
Slick

That's exactly what I am hoping for. It's also the reason why I am not quick to dis JP or his new venture. A new club, any new club, opens up more nights for NYC's beleaguered club scene. Hopefully, these nights can showcase some different acts, namely trance.

I have a very wait and see attitude towards Black - on the one hand, it seems like it could be very strong out of the gate, but then again, anyone who's been to the old SF can easily imagine the cops breaking down the doors with German shepherds in tow.

Let's hope things work out for the better side of NY nightlife. God knows we need it.

-Slick

"Not eye," said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw.

I'd rather receive an enema from a foreign doctor than listen to JP spin, but that's just me...

in this case it's not only about JP, the club itself is really big and there should be a very big crowd...i shall never disparage Black because i lost my virginity on account of going there once

well if anything...since JP owns EXIT/BLACK now there is a better chance of house/trance Fridays coming back...everyone else seems to just want hiphop xPPPP just gotta be careful about everything cuz of what's happened recently (SF)

- only first 4,000 getting in
- they supposedly want you to dress up now
- door raised to 40 list/50 reg

coming from the jp site which just came back online
