Tiesto - Traffic a rip off?

I was downloading some tunes and came across a tune from 2001 called Praetorian - Released. The main synth is identical to Traffic.Has anyone else heard this tune?If not download it and tell me if you think its similair.

Original or Warrior Mix?

Posted by Tranc3 on Mar-10-2004 02:52:

Aye sounds very similar indeed. I think people have pointed out before that Traffic was ripped off someone else's tune.

Edit: I think this actually sounds better than Traffic, the first 3 mins or so are fairly cheesy, but the lead melody is done better imo.

Nautilus

interesting, apparantly Lethal Industry's melody is a rip off of some track from 1995.

So many tunes are "ripped off" that it hardly even matters. As long as credit is given when samples are taken, then I have no problem with it. Hell, the Solarcoaster melody is taken from a film soundtrack and nobody seems to mind much!

Which? The vocals are taken from True Romance.. Don't know about the melody.

No, the melody is from a film score. Let me try to dig up the thread.

Edit: Here.

Urban Train is pretty much Kid Vicious - Reform vs Delerium - Silence (Tiesto Remix).

And Tiesto - Adagio for Strings is a total ripoff of Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings

hmm i dont rememebr it sounding like praetorian - released, coz i used to love that tune.

but traffic is already credited to ripping off some techno tune (it says so on the sleeve noteS)

Hmm.....

^^^ That's about my only contribution to this thread.

'Night.

Posted by Ste on Mar-10-2004 09:50:

nah its not a rip off, the synth is a bit similar, but thanks for this thread anyway, reminded me how mint this tune was.

Praetorian used to be a nice alias of Michael Woods, you could just sense the Darey feel in it, ahh those were the days.

I can't notice a similarity tho

says on the vinyl sleeve that it has a sample from Psychofuk by Sean Deason

ffs most of the time when people say "rip off" on this forum their showing their ignorance about electronic music. sampling, remixing, and quoting is an essential part of the art and totally legit...especially when the artist gives damn credit to the original artist (ie. traffic, suburban train).

nothing wrong with sampling, rip off, or whatever. If they can take a song and make it better for us, more power to them!

Just enjoy the music

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Mar-10-2004 23:31:

or add it to the master list
