Final Scratch Dual Partition Stability

I might be getting this beast at some point down the line, and would like to know how stable it is running BSOS (or whatever linux os it comes with) and windows xp. I need to know because I REALLY don't want to get a powerbook, but I just might have to to avoid buying CDJs...so does anyone have a dual partition setup and stable?

No need for dual partition wiht the latest version 1.5 Which is what i would reccomend using as i have been a long time FS user since 1.0. I got 1.5 when it came out and haven't had a single problem with it - tempest

Personally i would never use win XP for live dj work. If the XP version is free and the Mac or linux version is $3000 i would save for the non-XP version. The reliability and latency is simply not good enough. XP lacks a number of key features that would make it useful for this type of work. XP is NOT a configurable system, there are a number of kernel/userland apps that it is impossible to control the activities of, and this can result in huge variations in latency. It is impossible to code the preemption/multitasking code as effectivly as in linux/OS X. If you want more info, i can post more. Stanton originally stated that windows was useless for this kind of work after effective scientific investigation however the marketing people made them change this. This in my eyes was not a technical choice. I would be more than just shocked if the stability of the new XP version is even close to the linux or Mac X version. If the linux version is not a choice, buy a mac. As an added benifit you can use the mac for the rest of your stuff as well... you can check the final scratch forums for more people with the same opinion.

My short version, if you can't use the linux version, buy a mac.
