What do you want to do when you grow up??

I'm sure that most of us dream of one day being about to spin for a living and being popular and skilled enough to have gigs all over the world with the best DJ's and at the same time getting paid for it.
Just wondering what you guys think you will end up doing for jobs if you can't support yourself with DJ'ing, are you in college or do you have jobs now? I'm not trying to sound negative 'cause I know that enough determination and confidence can take you anywhere but I think about this alot. I'm in college now so I know that I can get a job after I graduate but to be honest, nothing really interests me as much at electronic music, spinning, producing tracks and anything else related, so I find it hard to spend the rest of my life doing something that I'm not really in to. Anyway's just wondering what everyone else thought about this... Thanks!

The dream will always be to produce my own music and play it out to a crowd.

Other than that I make a good tech support nerd

I'm currently an IT dude and safety officer where I work

Im only 19 so I got plenty of time to aim for the career that I want

Was thinking about DJ'ing but to make more money decided to study for IT specialist. Especially that I like 'puters a lot.

I'm graduating from electrical engineering soon. That means I'm going to spend most of my adult life begging for money on the streets.

Eh... it's a living. The more insane you act, the more money you get. Maybe at some point I'll commit a petty crime and get myself thrown in a minimum-security prison with free food and TV and gym.

ehh screw jail. act insane and get into a mental institution. the fellow patients are probably alot more fun than the thugs in jail. and hte living isn't as shitty as being in a jail

You've obviously never seen a Canadian jail. The folks in the Kingston penitentiary get better food, better accomodations, and I think a better education than we get in university.

Mental asylums are good too though. The only hard part is proving that you're insane, because psychiatrists cost money.

ah yes. i'm sure canadian jails are palaces compared to the overcrowded cess pools of jails they have here in california

eh you don't have to pay a psych to have him say your insane. read up on schizophrenia or some other mental disorder and just act out in the streets

maybe do some petty theft, make sure you get caught. make up some crazy story about your horrible upbringing and plead insanity

Maybe you are just in a DJ'ing phase where you can't bear the thought of doing anything else. Try out different things, there are definitely stuff that will interest you. It's not like DJ'ing, producing, etc. is the ONLY thing that can EVER be meaningful to you. Look around!

Good luck.

And I'm gonna go into acounstical engineering, which will let me work in one of the following:

- Music studio
- Film studio
- TV station/episode audio work
- computer game production
- designing speakers
- designing acoustically rich rooms/areas/buildings

There's probably more that I'm forgetting, but it should be interesting work. At the very least I won't be doing the exact same thing every day. Only thing is I have to double major in Physics and Music to get into a good grad school. One of those by itself I would gladly do, but both is proving to be fairly difficult.

Im probably a minority here but i dont dream about being a DJ at all Dont get me wrong i love music, but i love cars even more so my dream has always been to be a race or a test driver I just love finding out the limits of a car and then driving it at the limit...nothing gets that adrenaline going like knowing that theres a 180corner in front of you and your going just a bit too fast to make it

But since i dont see that happening i signed up for mobile communication technologies

I dream of being a man of leisure. I want to have the ability to pursue a new hobby every 2-3 months, and maintain a lifestyle consisting of eating at expensive restaurants 12-13 times a week and going to the gym 4 hours a day with a personal trainer.
