Rane vs Pioneer

What are the differences? Which is better? What Rane mixer is comparable to teh DJM-500 ?? Just wondering, I like the look of Pionner mixers (I have one), but a friend said I should switch up and go w/ Rane, is it really worth it? Is he even correct? I figure there both on the same level ... Any input would be great ...

There's no rane mixer that can be compared exactly w/ pioneer. Rane for the most part uses very high end components and has unsurpassed feel and quality. Pioneer on the other hand, crams as many features into a mixer technically possiable. Personally i perfer rane b/c every rane mixer i've used had killer sound quality, great ergonomics, killer eqs, and just felt good to use.

Pioneer: lots of stuff you probably won't use live often, but has been the club standard for awhile.

Rane: Killer components, killer quality, killer sound, IMO Flexfx found on the ttm56 and empath matched w/ a decent effects processor can easily surpass the effects quality found on the DJM500/600. Rane is totally worth the $$$

If you wanna check out some rane club mixers here's a list:

MP2016 (xp2016 processor)
MP44
MP24z
mp22z
mm8z
mp2
Empath (my fav. and one i own. around the same price range as djm600)
TTM54 (turntabliist mixer)
TTM56 (Best turntabliist mixer that ever existed period!)

Yea, I've got my eye on the Rane Empath which I'd really like to save up for! Of course, there's a ton of other DJ gear and music I'd like to get as well, so it'll be a long time before I have enough money to buy it.

here's the sad thing. There's too many toys to look at and want. Corporations sure got a grip on us consumers!
