-- Mixer with no preamp?
Mixer with no preamp?
Basically, Ive had my decks a couple of weeks and i have the 2 decks connected to a mixer and then into the AUX input on my HiFi.
The problem is the output is stupidly quiet, i have to turn the volume up to about 50 on my hi fi to get any reconisable sound, where as normally with a cd playing 20 would be sufficient! Also the signal LED's on the mixer never go higher than 2 bars! (and yes the gain is turned up to the normal level)
My turntable inputs go through the PHONO line on the mixer, hence i thought the mixer should boost the signal, but the sound i get out of my mixer is as quiet as when i connect an individual turntable straight into the AUX connectors in my HiFi.
What can I do about this, because when i tested the turntable at home on my parents amp through the dedicated phono input (without the mixer, just the individual turntable) the sound was fine.
Any ideas?
what kind of mixer is it mate?
did you check the gains? How about double checking to make sure the turntables are plugged into phono not line, what about master gain? also what type of mixer do you have?
oops.. didn't mean to do this

how about giving omnitronic a ring?
Check the microphone talkover switch... I knocked this once on my old mixer and couldn't figure out for ages what it was!

would this be a viable solution,
If my mixer is barley boosting the signal, could i plug both TT's into the line in socket on the mixer, and then run the output (from mixer) into the Phono slot on an amp, instead of the normally aux, so the sound is boosted by the amp?
This isn't really possible at the moment as i dont have an amp with phono, just a hifi with built in amplifier, but i presume in theory this would work, no?
