Hello! People from Melbourne, Australia read this!

Hey melbourneer's lol

Just wondering what you all think of the club/rave scene out here and if anyone knows any good raves

my 100th post w00t

Well I said it somewhere else, but I honestly believe that Melbourne is the club capital of the southern hemisphere. We have a lot of clubs, a lot of variety and a lot of quality, so we can't really complain.

Having said that, I guess there aren't too many trance clubs. This doesn't bother me too much cos I'm more into house and prog anyway, but still. For trance I guess you may want to try Whiskey Lounge (or is it Whiskey Bar?) on Bourke st - they've got some pretty good trance stuff upstairs, or maybe something like Hard Kandi (though I'll be fucked if I can remember where it is ).

For the prog thing, well Room is the king of clubs down here imho. Worth going even if you're not that into prog. Also give the uptop bar a bit of a look in - it's on Russell st. between Bourke and Little Bourke, down some alley near the Hungry Jacks. It look a bit dodgy from the outside, but it's free entry and they've got some seriously mad prog music upstairs. I've wittled away many an hour in that place, partly because of its convenient location (right near where I buy my heroin from........ just joking ) but mainly cos of the music. Not bad at all for a virtual unknown.

I've also heard good things about Honky Tonks and Dome, but I've only been 18 for like 3 and a half months, so I haven't had an opportunity to check some of these joints out yet.

As for raves? Well my mate was telling me this event that they throw once every 3 weeks or so (it's called Sun-something I think) that you can only find out about by word of mouth - but it's meant to be really good and I promised my mate I'd go next time it's on, so hopefully I'll be able to get some details about what it is/where it is/when it is then.

Oh, and check out www.raves.com.au

It's a pretty useful site for Melbournians wanting to know what's going on, when, and for how much.

Erm, so how's that then?

Yeah Room's an awesome club (so long as you like progressive).

And you don't like Salt? I'm mates with the guys who run it on thursday nights, so consider yourself banned for life.

Nah, but I mean even aside from that I reckon that Salt's a pretty nice club. Good music (if you like house) and some pretty nice talent in there if you get my drift......

Shame it's not making any money and could be closed by the new year.

Ello, most of my best friends are in Melbourne now....and I am thinking of taking a break from Toronto (where it's so fucking cold)and fly down to Melbourne in Dec....

I've heard that the scene there is damn happening....and I adore the way most of the ravers dance over there.....with the feet shuffling and stuff..some pretty Aggro shit..I hope to learn it one day....

Anyways, how are the E's down in Melbourne? Cause the E's we get in Toronto are pretty some fucked up shit...as in bad...really bad...

Yeah, Kasey Taylor and Sean Quinn, among others, are residents @ Republic (i.e. Room on Saturday nights). Look out for the Renaissance night there which is coming up soon, where Jimmy Van M, Dave Seaman, Satoshi Tommie and some other guys are coming out (can't wait ).

As for good places for progressive? Well the only two that I know about are Room, like I said, and Uptop Bar (which I mentioned before). I've heard good stuff about Dome too, just make sure that you stay out of the gay part of the club.

Well, I guess they'd be pretty much the same here as anywhere else, as in you've gotta take the good with the bad. Personally I'm not into any of that shit so I'm not an expert on it, but my one of my old friends from school is pretty into this scene, and he doesn't mind hooking people up with whatever it is that they want. He's not a dealer or anything, but he has a couple of friends who have easy access to these designer drugs, so if you do come down here, get in contact with me and he could hook you up with some trustworthy stuff if you like. He also knows all about which types of pills are good and which are notoriously bad (by the patterns on them: mitsubishi, butterfly etc.) so if you need advice, again I guess I could get some for you.

Erm, not that I condone any of this crap you understand.

Thanks. Either way, it's a nice place.
