gemm.com

I was reading posts in the 'dodgy record store' thread and came across one post that mentioned this link so decided to check it out. I was wondering, from those of you who have used it, how reliable this website is because I'm a little skeptical on the idea for now. Is it a good place to get those hidden gems that nobody can find anymore?

I only used it once, got an extra-rare vinyl with no problems at all

same here. got an original of

LA Style - James Brown Is Dead

cheap and quickly. But afaik, they list many different record stores, so I would always take a look at the store's user rating (like ebay)

i think the original poster may have been misinformed as to what gemm is.

Gemm is not a single music store (as djdawn mentioned), but a portal for many independent collectors to sell off their vinyl.

Each seller is given a rating, and if you follow the ratings you wont have trouble.

Always make email contact with the seller first to ensure they ship to your country, and have the piece in stock. Often they may redirect you to their website so you dont have to pay the gemm.com fee's.

Ive used gemm a handful of times, and never had a problem. As well, found some really obscure/rare pieces there.

i've used it three or four times and never had any problems but i've only order from people with four star ratings.

+1

I think you should only keep seller rating in mind while buying, otherwise it's a great site, ordered some records from it 3 or 4 times, no problem

yesh, i got a way rare vinyl from one of their sellers without any problems. but i did find one wayyyyyy dodgy italian record shop that told me this...

quote:

Thanks for your order Jesse, by the way it seem that your card has not
enough funds for it.

In order to pay by AMERICAN EXPRESS, VISA or MASTERCARD you should be so
kind to email me your credit card details in two or more separate
emails.

I mainly need the card number, the expiration day and the cardholder
name.

That looked way dodgy, so I didnt return any emails. This is a place called Link Records, www.link-records.com
